On August 12, 2019, Officer Andre Moye Jr., ID 21641, was conducting a traffic stop in Riverside when he was shot by the driver of the vehicle. Two other CHP officers, responding to the scene were struck by gunfire during the shootout. All three officers were transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center. Sadly, Officer Moye succumbed to his injuries. Officer Moye had been serving the community of Riverside since graduating from the CHP Academy in March 2017. Officer Moye is survived by his wife, Sara; parents, sisters, and brothers. Please keep Officer Moye's family, friends, and the entire CHP family in your thoughts and prayers as we all mourn the loss of this great officer.


Traffic Alert: Officers from the CHP Riverside Area Office are currently investigating a fatal traffic collision on Ramona expressway east of Bridge Street. Ramona Expressway is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for at least two more hours, to facilitate the scene investigation. Please use alternate routes. With going back to school throughout our community this week, everyone at CHP Riverside would like remind you to be extra careful around school buses. If you have any doubt as to weather you should stop or not for a bus with the red lights flashing, here is a chart provided by our friends chp_merced to assist. Drive safely everyone!


Riverside CHP is currently investigating a hit and run traffic collision in the area of I-215 Southbound north of Harley Knox Boulevard. All southbound lanes are currently open. Although the traffic lanes are open, there is still an overturned commercial vehicle on the railroad tracks just west of the freeway. Tow operators are currently on scene attempting to upright the commercial vehicle and remove it from the railroad tracks. Please use an alternate route if possible and remember to watch your speed, always wear your seatbelt, don’t drive distracted, and don’t drink and drive. The Eastbound SR-60 is open to traffic. The 60 Swarm project finished early and reopened the freeway at approximately 2:20 AM. This was the second weekend in a series of eight that will require the eastbound side to be closed. Work on the 60Swarm will resume this weekend. BE READY FOR THE “60 SWARM” Please be advised of upcoming weekend closures along State Route 60, set to begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday July 26, 2019. Attached are two fact sheets detailing the pavement rehabilitation and bridge repair components of the project. The detour maps shown below illustrate Caltrans’ planned closures over the next 15 weeks adjacent to Riverside, the work will be staged as follows: • Full closure of eastbound SR 60, including all eastbound on and off ramps, between I-15 and the 60/91/215 Junction in Riverside for eight weekends from Friday nights at 10:00 p.m. to Monday mornings at 5:00 a.m. from July 26 through September 23 (excluding Labor Day weekend). There will be no eastbound access during this closure. Motorists may use westbound SR 60 to access local on and off ramps. • Full closure of westbound SR 60, including all westbound on and off ramps, between the 60/91/215 Junction in Riverside to I-15 for seven weekends from Friday nights at 10:00 p.m. to Monday mornings at 5:00 a.m. from September 28 through November 18 (excluding Veteran’s Day). There will be no access during this closure. Motorists may use eastbound SR 60 to access local on and off ramps.

On June 28, 2019, at approximately 2230 hours, CHP Riverside units responded to a report of a pedestrian running in lanes on the SR-91 Westbound transition to I-15 Southbound. Upon arrival, the units located a party who made several threats to jump over the bridge. After approximately 15 minutes of conversing with the individual, our Officer’s successfully talked the man off of the ledge.
