"Tatooist of Auschwitz" by Heather Morris - You can never read/listen too many stories of the Holocaust. Despite all the horror, this was probably the loveliest story I've come across from that time. Totally worth reading/listening. 👍 bookbeat holocaust auschwitz bookrecommentation

Since I was a little girl I have always had a huge interest in the holocaust and as an adult I've read many books about its horrific nature. Today, I was able to finally pay my respects to the millions of people who were brutally murdered by the Nazi generation. Nothing can quiet prepare you for what I seen today but I'm glad I've been. As I sit on the coach heading back to comfort and safety, I'm thinking about the pain and suffering that these people endured, the emotions they must have went through when being forced from their homes, transported like cattle to a strange unknown place, torn apart from their loved ones and being made to live in what I can only describe as hell. I'm very very thankful to be alive and to have the things I have. I'm also really proud of my country for winning the war and liberating some of these camps. I only wish it had ended sooner. RIP all of those who died at the hands of the Germans. neverforgotten auschwitz

Something none car related: after reading several articles about the misplaced behaviour of people when “visiting” Auschwitz - Birkenau. I went trough my pics of 2009 when some friends and I visisted this huge sites. The size of it is uninmaginable, the stories our guide told unbelievable and the feeling I had when walking on that exact same gravel roads indescribable. Please respect these places when visiting it. birkenau auschwitz respect

■ Seventy six years ago, a day like today in 1943, a train departures from Thessaloniki to Oświęcim (Auschwitz) in Poland. It is the first mission of other eighteen that will follow. On that train, 2.800 Jews resided in the settlement of Baron Hirsch in Thessaloniki, folded with inhuman conditions, like animals, are heading to death at Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration and Extermination Camps. Only very few of them will ever return back to their country, to their town, to their homes ■ WeRemember neveragain worldjewishcongress thessaloniki greece memorial neverforget holocaust Jewish ww2 jew auswitch auschwitz birkenau shoah ghetto nazi concentrationcamp remember poland humanity Jewish history travel travelphotography genocide flaneurskaleidoscopichorizons travelblogger holocaustmemorial deathcamp Israel

■ «Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it». (George Santayana) ■ Aushwitz through the eyes of a , through the eyes of my 10 years old daughter, Despoina-Eirini. WeRemember. But before WeRemember, no matter if we are talking about adults or , we have to know. We have to learn, to be taught. We have to teach our about Holocaust, or any other important part of our history, even if they are issues not easy, not pleasant. We have to openly discuss them, to search out for true, to evidence, to explain, to try to feel So that we can be sure that, as parents, we did whatever better we could in order not to let happen neveragaininternationalholocaustremembranceday WeRemember war worldjewishcongress yadvashem january27 holocaust Jewish ww2 jew auswitch auschwitz birkenau shoah ghetto nazi concentrationcamp remember poland neveragain Jewish history travel childrenart genocide flaneurskaleidoscopichorizons travelblogger holocaustmemorial deathcamp respect Israel

,, Teddy" Tadeusz Pietrzykowski. 🎭Artist Henryk Walkowiak from Poznań. Oil Paint. Canvas Ladies and gentlemen. 'Teddy' Tadeusz Pietrzykowski - a polish boxer - first ten in the all weights rank. In 'Auschwitz' german nazi death camp he fought for his life, for a bowl of soup, a piece of bread. He wanted to fight in the Polish Army in France. He managed to break through to Hungary but got caught in there, transported back to occupied Poland and given in to Gestapo oppressors. On the 14th of june 1940 he was sent to 'Auschwitz' german nazi death camp in the first prisoners transport. 'Teddy' Tadeusz Pietrzykowski, pseudonym 'Iron Fist'/ 'White Magic' - during three years of his inprisonment in 'Auschwitz' german nazi death camp, he fought over 40 battles. Some say there were even 60. Majority won. In one of them, he defeated a prewar german professional fighter - Schally Hootenbach - weight 96kg vs malnutritioned Pole - weight 45kg. Many times 'Teddy' was visiting a franciscan (gray friar) - and a polish catholic saint - father Maksymilian Maria Kolbe. Boxer was impressed by equanimity presented by this monk, therefore fancied his company. The future martyr monk gave one condition: 'If you want to visit me you need to temper your explosive character'. In the 'Auschwitz' german nazi death camp 'Teddy' attended the assembly during which Maksymilian Kolbe decided to offer his life in exchange for a life of the other prisoner Franciszek Gajowniczek (who had a wife and to live for). The phrase letters 'SOS' seen on the boxer's shorts were drawn by us in german death camp in specific months, when we were in danger and we had to warn our mates about it or to ask for help. artarbic artinvestsouthafrica sztuka pędzel wojna 2wojnaświatowa zwycięstwo artusa artisan prawda calapolska calymojswiat oboz niemcy🇩🇪 poland 🇵🇱 auschwitz wolnosc boks boxingvideos boxing boxingheads bking1340 boxingnight boxingheads boxinghighlights muaythaiboxing ajboxing b championsecond
