Butterflies I have been challenging myself to write pieces under a minute long. This one is about Butterflies (duh). I wanted to capture the flutter of the wings, the feeling you get inside and the emotions of chance encounters with these fascinating little creatures. Also it's Spring and the Sun is shining. • • • yvrmusic yvrmusicscene yvrfilm vancity vancitymusic vancityfilm indiemusic filmmusic filmcomposer mediacomposition spitfireaudio spitfirelabs slateaudio stevenslate

Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897-1957), the first composer on next week’s program, is considered one of the grandfathers of Hollywood film scoring. He was the first “serious” composer with international reach to write for film, inspiring decades of sophisticated, classically-inspired film scores. His oeuvre includes the infamous pirate-thriller “Captain Blood,” which he only had three weeks to write. Due to the time constraints, he used music by our other composer - Franz Liszt - for about 10% of the score! Want to hear music by the grandfather of cinema? Check out our concert next week - but hurry We’re running out of room fast! April 30th • 8pm at moodyperformancehall . So today is World Kolade Day 😊! I got to know about Kolade in February 2016 in an interview with TRUTH, an amazing film composer, for the Film Issue of the Omenka magazine. When I asked for the people who inspire him, he mentioned a certain Kolade Morakinyo among them. I switched to research mode and in my findings, I discovered Kolade's soundcloud platform! The first OST I came across was his 'Cousins' which I played on repeat for 1 hour straight on my precious data! I became quite addicted to it I had to listen to it daily. I shared it with everyone I knew on every platform and even played it for people real time. I remember even playing it for Uncle Jimi Solanke when I went to interview him. He liked it, hummed along and said he could even put words to it as he listened. For the past 3 years, I have been introducing 10 to 16 year old girls in some summer camps, to Film Appreciation and Nollywood. So while telling them about film scores and asking for their favourite theme songs in 2016, I played Cousins for them and asked to share how they thought it could be used in a film. They told me to repeat it twice and the 50 of them came up with different concepts for this ost. Some asked for his soundcloud link so they could listen again and hear his other tracks. I think every human being reacts to music and especially good music. Fast forward to 2017 when I was working on my Tejumade film. I had to do a scratch recording for voice actors. I looked to friends/colleagues to help out. I am big on audio and film and I thought Kolade had a nice and soothing 'phone' voice so I thought he should voice my King Adesina. He contributed massively to the success of my little Tejumade film. We did the scratch recording in his studio, he did the demo sound design, gave me 2 wonderful osts and voiced one of the characters all for free. He also introduced me to another amazing film composer Tosin Amire who gave me 2 of his lovely osts free as well. A very Happy Birthday to you Kolade Morakinyo visonicarts ! Wishing you a wonderful day and amazing new year ahead! P:S Please enjoy Cousins! music filmmusic ost linkinbio filmcomposer sounddesigner

© 2018. 5656 Films © 2018.
