Just as people say that you can be your own worst critic - I like to say you can be your own inspiration. Being strong is not just about the muscle. It’s about learning, obtaining, uplifting yourself. The most admirable is being able to uplift others. When I went through my hard times and hitting rock bottom it was hard to uplift myself. People can be cruel and kick you while you’re down. But you have to learn to pick yourself up. Imagine your future self as your ideal self giving you a helping hand out of the mud. Bc only YOU know your battles and wars. Once you get out of that mentality - the right kind of people won’t reject youthey’ll encourage you to keep up the great work. I try to do the same for others bc I pulled myself out of that mud and no what it feels like. That’s why I try and stay loyal and true. In 2015 I set what seemed to most people an impossible goal. I wanted to learn Olympic weightlifting and compete in the 2017 World Masters Games in New Zealand and represent Canada in oly lifting. As most of you know i accomplished that goal with the help of my extremely patient trainer tallpaulslife and an amazing Massage Therapist tyspin as well as many others who supported me along that journey in so many ways. We can never expect to accomplish our goals all on our own. Of course we are the ones who ultimately have to put in the work and at the end of the day preform the best we can at what ever our goal is. What I have found most surprising about this journey is that when we make one major change and stick with it, change spills over into so many other areas of our lives. When we reach out for help there are people to help us along the way. Sometimes it doesn't seem obvious who our helpers are and sometimes we have them right in front of us and just don't acknowledge or realize the impact they do have on our lives. Well here we are 2 years later after a difficult 2018 I am back on track and feel stronger and technically more competent than ever before. This is what is on the Horizon for Me. I am registered for the Pan American Weightlifting in Florida this May and have applied with good qualifying totals to compete in the World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Montreal this summer. I will have comfirmation at the beginning of May that I am invited to compete. Weightlifting has changed my life and how I approach every area of my life. It really is never to late to become an athlete, to change your life, to chase a dream or a new goal. You just have to take the first step. CONNECTION: Some people may call it luck Some may not believe Perhaps it's only for you But I can't def tell you that that there is something bigger then us. I got off work around . I love fridays because its pay day. I decided to run a few errands , touch up my nails etc. I got hungry & decided to wine & dine myself ( my favorite). So half way through my dinner a elderly man overheard something I said. From there we had about a 2 hour conversation. This man was so deep & spiritually connected. 19.1, 19.2, 19.3, 19.4 and 19.5 DONE AND DUSTED While there were moments when I hated it, I can honestly say I have really enjoyed my first Crossfit Open. What a five weeks it has been - 19.1 I had tonsillitis - still showed up and did my best. 19.4 made me have a panic attack, vomit and walk out, but I redid and kicked it’s arse. 19.5 was physically very hard but I was reminded the whole damn time of my amazingggg support network, women I have never spoken to before BY MY SIDE screaming my name and keeping me going. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ If I have learnt anything, it is that it is time for me to stop pushing to be someone I am not. To remember I am at the start of my journey and I need to focus on what I am doing instead of where I wish I was. CONSISTENCY IS KEY and I need to keep showing up, show up more, push my boundaries because I am here to grow myself. I need to stop my lifestyle robbing my mind and body of the hard work I am putting in crossfitcontessa - I’ve learnt to go to bed earlier, eat better, consume less alcohol, stress less at work, take my meds and surround myself with bossbabes and GOOD VIBES ONLY It’s okay to have hard days or hard weeks or hard relationships - but what is not okay is to let those hard things wear down my spirit. ⁣⁣I am in control of me. Let's get ready to UCANNNNNNNNNNNNN. Game 1 is here When you are a nutrition company that works with college sports, you kind of get excited when tournament time rolls around. We filled out our brackets and are hoping our teams pull out the win. Who will be the best of the best in college basketball? We will have to wait and see In honor of the madness that is college basketball tourney time, we decided to have a little fun. We came up with our own bracket tournament challenge. The UCAN ALL-STAR tournament, putting our best products against one another.
