Do you ever have those days when your body just NEEDS something great to eat and you just can’t figure out what it is you are wanting? ~ Well that is me today. I wanted some comfort food, but needed something good for me, something healing. I also was looking for something quick and easy as usual. ~ This beautiful concoction was what I came up with from my fridge and man was it ever good. I roasted the golden beets and brussels with salt and pepper over high heat. Tossed 1/4 cup of spinach, 4 cherry tomatoes, 1 mini sweet red pepper, 1 egg and 4 egg whites together for an omelette. Added 1/2 an avocado all for 328 calories, 25 grams of protein, 24 grams of carbs & 16 grams of fat. What a great balance for my macros. ~ If you have never roasted golden beets you really should. Roasting brings out the sweetness and makes them tender enough to cut with a fork. I truly believe that the biggest factor in developing a healthy eating lifestyle is a positive, determined frame of mind. Diet plans I tried in the past didn't work, but to be honest I never really expected them to work. The difference for me came from telling myself, "This is it. You can do it. You WILL do it." I didn't focus mainly on weight loss but on empowering myself to set goals and then meet them. It is important to think positive thoughts about yourself and your journey to a healthy lifestyle. You may face hard times during your transition. The key is to stay focused on your goals and you will always reach them. Like Ralph Marston has said, "Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality." Once I knew I was going to become healthier and lose weight, the next thing I did was throw away all the junk food in my house. It was all about learning a new way to eat. Every day I would fill up on vegetables, fruit, and lean meats. I encourage everyone here today to do a quick inventory of your pantry when you get home. Are these the foods that can help you become the healthy person you want to be? My next step was to start exercising. At first it was difficult for me. I would get out of breath just getting ready to exercise! Did I let that stop me? No! This isn't a diet so there is no ending point. It is all about living every day, making right choices for my health. LONG POST: I wanted to take some time to share with you some of my ideas and feelings about topics that have had a major part of my life: my weight and overall appearance. If we've been friends for a while you probably already know that I have struggled so much with being overweight, having low self-confidence, severe acne, and having some poor lifestyle habits. Been feeling under the weather for a while now. Social media has taken a backseat to rest and recovery. Ontem foi Dia Mundial da Água, e pra lembrar vocês da importância da água pro nosso organismo, tem repost muito interessante falando do consumo desse bem precioso! 💦💦 Repost nutrirodrigomoreira ( get_repost) ・・・ A perda hídrica (de água) pela sudorese (suor) durante o exercício pode levar o organismo à desidratação, com aumento da osmolalidade da concentração de sódio no plasma levando a uma diminuição do volume plasmático. Quanto maior a desidratação, menor a capacidade de redistribuição do fluxo sanguíneo para a periferia do seu corpo, menor a sensibilidade hipotalâmica (parte do cérebro que controla diversas funções, como exemplo: fome, sede, ciclo do sono) para a sudorese e menor a capacidade aeróbica para um dado débito cardíaco (volume de sangue ejetado por minuto). O estado de hidratação é um fator determinante para a prática de atividades físicas. Desta forma, o conhecimento do estado de hidratação do indivíduo antes, durante e após o exercício torna-se importante para a sua prática constante. Além disso, avaliar o estado de hidratação é fundamental para evitar os problemas de saúde devido à desidratação. A osmolalidade plasmática é o principal método de avaliação do estado de hidratação em situações laboratoriais, em que maior precisão na medida é exigida. Outro método prático para a estimativa da hidratação corporal é a análise da coloração da urina, utilizando-se a escala proposta por Armstrong et al. A escala (para quem possui meu cartão, nele possui a escala da coloração da urina) apresenta uma boa correlação com a densidade e a osmolalidade urinárias e com a osmolalidade plasmática. Mais será que o sintoma sede é o suficiente para proporcionar a hidratação necessária? Infelizmente não podemos depender dos sintomas de sede para nos mantermos bem hidratados, ou seja, é fundamental como em qualquer situação na vida a organização para ter a boa execução de uma ação. Principalmente os idosos que sentem menor percepção da sede. Evidências mostram que uma leve desidratação já é suficiente para trazer uma série de complicações, como: aumento da irritabilidade, do estresse, gerando mais ansiedade e se tornando uma cascata de reações negativas.
