Becoming MichelleObama is such an inspirational and powerful role model for many. Through this book she has shared what a normal upbringing she had, a regular life with a family and how her husband's presidency changed everything. Her strong belief for women's education, her fight to provide healthy food for , driving the need for fitness among , working towards employment for war veterans and their families- the work she had done as First Lady is highly commendable. In addition, the way she fought to provide a normal life to her daughters, the struggles of being available in their growing up years is a must read. Not to forget the parts where she talks about miscarriage, IVF, work life balance and marriage counselling. The point I loved which she made was- You are responsible for your own happiness.
Her encounters with the Queen and Nelson Mandela were fascinating and funny. The anecdotes on her life at the White House, her initial awe, incidents with Security Service and lots more- brings a smile.
Reading about Barack Obama from Michelle's point of view was interesting. He wasn't just the President, but a husband and a father trying to have a normal life out of work, spending quality time with his family.
Her honest thoughts about elections, media, Trump are worth reading. At the end I was left with wanting more- More of the Obamas holding office and more to read their experiences.
And to hear this book narrated by herself is a huge plus.
