We all know that exercise is good for our hearts, lungs, bodies and minds but certain types of exercise actually slow down the ageing process ❤️ A recent study found that people aged 55 to 79 who exercised regularly did not gain weight or lose muscle mass, their cholesterol levels remained the same and they retained a youthful immune system 😊 Getting older does not need to make us frail, as long as we do the right kind of exercise ❤️ Too many people change their workouts as they get olderdoing more low intensity exercise to protect their joints. However, to maintain a youthful body and mind we need to do high intensity work too. To maintain muscle mass it’s important to do resistance training by using weights or your own body weight 3 or 4 times a week to protect your bone density you need to be doing some weight bearing exercise such as jogging, skipping and lifting weights. Age proofing your body needn’t take hours a few sessions of weight bearing and resistance exercises each week plus cardio work such as walking, jogging, swimming or cycling on the other days will help you look and feel younger and healthierand help retain a sharper mind And don’t forget it’s never too late or too early to startso what’s stopping you?
