I headed down to South Jersey today to look for some of our early spring Warblers, in particular the Yellow-throated Warbler. They’re one of my favorite species, and one that doesn’t get enough attention in my opinion, so showcasing them for my ongoing work with nature_nj seemed like the perfect opportunity. I really enjoyed hiking around their habitat in the pine forests, you can see this individual was feeding in a native Red Maple. I would only find them when the understory had plenty of native saplings, they would be completely absent from areas with lots of invasive plants and shrubs.
