🇬🇧 Top 5 90s players from Great Britain •
In celebration of Great Britain’s overtime win, I’m posting the top guys from Great Britain. Steve Thomas, Byron Dafoe and Kevin Brown were all born in England but raised in Canada. Just like my ancestors, Steve Smith was born in Scotland and moved to Canada (hundred years later) Owen Nolan was born in Northern Ireland and also moved to Canada at a age, going on to win a Gold Medal for us at the 02 Olympics. It was really cool to see the guys lined up on the blue line singing God Save the Queen 🎶 What I found funny was hearing British accents from hockey players in the interviews! I’ve heard all kinds of regional Canadian dialects over the years, along with French, Swedish and many other accents, but I can’t remember ever hearing anyone with the original accent do a hockey interview. Funny enough, I have a better job understanding Swedish players accents than I do the English players. Not a knock on those guys (obviously) but the Swedes speak excellent English. I’m predicting an upset for the ages. Great Britain for Gold!
