Talk of a space hotel, or a holiday in space, has long been thrown around, but there's never really been any concrete plans to make it happen. Until now. 😮⁣ The team at Axiom Space are taking reservations for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will involved 15 weeks of intense space training, culminating in 10 days aboard the International Space Station. 🛰️⁣ Lift off is expected in 2020, and your time in space won't just be spent floating around, you'll also be expected to contribute to a unique mission, which could be anything from exploring fitness in zero gravity or helping out with biological research. 🚀⁣ And all for a cheeky US55 million. Bargain, don't you think? 😳😉⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ SpaceTravel OuterSpace InternationalSpaceCentre AxiomSpace SpaceXRocket ElonMusk RichardBranson SpaceMission SpaceTourists HolidayInSpace FinalFrontierOfTravel SpaceTraining TravellingThroughTheWorld TravelAddict Adventure RoamThePlanet TravelInspo BucketList DoYouTravel BeforeYouDie WeLiveToExplore WellTravelled GetOutStayOut StayAndWander Wanderlust Wonderlust InstaPassport WildernessPassport getlostnow

Even strong frosts this year are unable to discourage tourists from discovering the world of cosmonautics. Besides, Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center at Star City looks as astonishing in winter as in summer. Our French guest didn’t fear colds neither. The beginning of February was marked by another tour to Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. Sebastian’s wife asked us to arrange the tour programme as a gift to her loved one.

Fred Haise undergoing some space training prior to Apollo 13. Mr. Haise was Lunar Module Pilot on the mission & was to be the 6th to walk on the moon until disaster crippled their spacecraft. He also served as back-up Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 8 & 11 & tested Enterprise during the early Space Shuttle free flights in 1977. He was to have flown the 2nd Shuttle mission to deliver a booster module to Skylab in 1979. The flight got delayed & then Skylab came crashing through the Earth’s atmosphere, cancelling the mission. The 2nd mission took place in 1981 & by that time, Fred had retired from NASA. fredhaise apollo13 spacetraining astronaut apolloprogram 1970 vintagespace spacetravel astronauts spaceexploration nasasocial projectapollo 1970s nasa moonlanding spaceflight spaceprogram spaceexplorer astronautsuit nasa🚀 spacehistory spaceman spacesuit

Neil Armstrong working on some parachute lines during training. Neil was chosen in the 2nd group of astronauts in 1962. He & David Scott performed the 1st docking of 2 spacecraft on Gemini 8 in 1966. He retired 2 years after becoming the 1st man on the moon in 1969 & taught aeronautical engineering at the University of Cincinnati until 1979. Imagine walking into class & seeing him as your professor! It’d be hard to focus on the topic at hand. I’d be like, ‘so what was it like’. We have good news: In March, latest April in this year the legendary GCTC Hydrolab (Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory) in Star City will be in service again after years of maintenance and rebuilding. For TV and movie activities, it is the most requested adventure. To film people floating around in heavy Orlan spacesuits in between the 1:1 scale mockups of the International Space Station gives the feeling to be in space, on Earth! Of course, you can use the facility for your own particular "space experience". You are in need of a Scuba diving license (e.g. PADI) to participate in this floating adventure. spaceaffairs gctc orlan spacetraining

(⇈/🔀/ana) An experiment in recovering 3D stereopairs from anaglyphs. In creating an anaglyph, color information is lost; we can separate it into a Red side and a Green + Blue side as on top here, which in theory should give the original colors when fused, but there are problems with ocular dominance and color fusion. Hence the details and resolution sometime feel better in monochrome, as in the bottom pair.
