Gorgons Medusa, in Greek mythology, the most famous of the monster figures known as Gorgons. She was usually represented as a winged female creature having a head of hair consisting of snakes; unlike the Gorgons, she was sometimes represented as very beautiful. Medusa was the only Gorgon who was mortal; hence her slayer, Perseus, was able to kill her by cutting off her head. From the blood that spurted from her neck sprang Chrysaor and Pegasus, her two sons by Poseidon. The severed head, which had the power of turning into stone all who looked upon it, was given to Athena, who placed it in her shield; according to another account, Perseus buried it in the marketplace of Argos. poseidon pegasus medusa gorgona gorgonsisters archaeology history Greece art artpic the Byzantium Constantinople capital Hellenistic Romanempire empire statue

I created "Pink Passion" recently when I had some darkness in my life. All of us can get overwhelmed, frustrated and a bit foggy with a mass of dark clouds around us. I realized an unexpected radiant light can all of a sudden brighten everything. For example something as simple as a house on a quiet street surrounded with pink flowers or yummy cotton candy. For me pink symbolizes charm, femininity, womanhood, tenderness and romance. Picking up a paintbrush and starting my workinprogress on "Pink Passion" acryliconcanvas took me out of the darkness and into this new place.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ pink studioscenes creativehappylife doitfortheprocess paintinginprogress paintingprocess mybeautifulmess artistsstudio womensupportingwomen creativity makeartnotwar colorpop instacolor color colourpalette artforartssake lightmyfire livecreative crafttherainbow colorcrushcreative socalartist colour colorcolourlovers artpic artlife artstudio expressyourself inspire

"You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved." ~ Ansel Adams ~ 🔹 Still-frame from “Moving Pictures of One Last Goodbye" ◾ ◾ ◾ picoftheday instapic instagram paris france quote parisien french American photo pic quoteoftheday words instago instagood love bnw bnwphotography blackandwhitephotography art artist artpic shortfilm movingpicture jehsongbaak bnwportrait quote

A still-frame from "Moving Pictures of One Last Goodbye”. The face belongs to Deane, a filmmaker I knew back in 1990 in New York City.  This picture was taken while we were making a Super-8 short called “The Revenge of the Plungerman”. Deane played the Plungerman, my ex-girlfriend, Patricia, played the abducted beauty.  Deane took the reel.  Haven’t seen him in 20 years.  I hope he still has it. ◾ ◾ ◾ picoftheday instapic instagram paris france quote parisien french American photo pic quoteoftheday words instago instagood french love bnw bnwphotography blackandwhitephotography art artist artpic shortfilm movingpicture jehsbaak

“Moving Pictures of One Last Goodbye” is a 9 minute short film which I wrote and directed, co-directed and animated by the great williamlecaron 🔹 William probably put in 200 hours to animate the pictures.  He did an amazing job. 🔹 The film revisits my days lived on a razor’s edge in the late 80s when I dropped out of college and moved to New York City to try my hand at being a photographer. A filthy single-room-occupancy hotel on 99th and Broadway, where I lived the first year, is a major player in the film, as well as the eclectic group of eccentric and unique people I met there. 🔹 More than anything, the film talks about finally letting go of our heavy and turbulent past, and making peace with those with whom we shared pain and suffering. ◾ ◾ ◾ picoftheday instapic instagram paris france quote parisien french American photo pic quoteoftheday words instago instagood french love bnw bnwphotography blackandwhitephotography art artist artpic shortfilm movingpicture jehsbaak

A still-frame from “Moving Pictures of One Last Goodbye”. “Liv” was a beautiful Swedish girl that my roommate Armon went out for a while back in the late 80s in New York.  I don’t remember her name but I call her “Liv” because she looked a lot like Liv Ullmann.  Liv would have fit in perfectly in a Bergman movie. ◾ ◾ ◾ picoftheday instapic instagram paris france quote parisien french American photo portrait quoteoftheday words instago instagood love bnw bnwphotography blackandwhitephotography art artist artpic shortfilm movingpicture jehsbaak blackandwhite
