On the 50th anniversary of humans setting foot on the moon, Jordan and I spent the afternoon with Jim Lovell (Apollo 13 - who Tom Hanks portrayed) and Beth Moses of virgingalactic. Repost natgeo via insightsapp Photo by Robin Hammond hammond_robin | Fifty years ago the LGBTQ+ community in New York rose up against discrimination. The Stonewall riots, as they became known, are widely considered the most important event leading to the LGBTQ liberation movement. There has been significant progress in the fight for equality for LGBTQ Americans, but there is a long way to go, especially for vulnerable groups such as seniors. Many LGBT seniors face prejudice, with their relationships, even when decades old, still not recognized. Here, 79-year-old Robert Waldron (left), with his partner of 37 years, Vernon May, also 79, explains that he’s been to many funerals of LGBT friends and has seen partners sit alone while their loved one is buried. “They were like a stranger at the funeral,” says Robert. “Can you imagine? You go to a funeral, and you, as a partner, sitting there, your name not even mentioned!” See \"Stonewall at 50: Stories of resilience and resistance\" on the Nat Geo site. Got to meet Mayor Pete today! He's just as great in person, and having a packed barn in 100+ degree heat and no AC gave me hope 💙🌊 petebuttigieg bootedgeedge

Go listen to blairgarner ’s interview with pete.buttigieg at the link in blairgarner ’s bio. His network wouldn’t let him air the interview on his show, but he was able to post it on his Soundcloud. Repost blairgarner with get_repost ・・・ I'm not a political guy. My radio show isn't political, nor does it aspire to be. I'm just the host of a syndicated Country music program who loves his country - both the amazing land in which we live, and the outstanding music from today's Country artists. The phrase, "I love my Country" is one that I state proudly and without reservation. I mean it to my core. I was stunned when we were contacted by Mayor Pete's team requesting an interview. Absolutely stunned. Since Country music tends to lean in a conservative direction, I was surprised. But more than surprised, I was EXTREMELY flattered. One of the few truly viable candidates in the race raised his hand and asked for a place at the table. I was willing to give him that seat. I would have also given a seat to any other viable candidate, from both sides. The only condition? They must also value and appreciate our listeners, and never treat them as pawns. Nobody else reached out. I assume nobody else even thought to reach out. The interview is twenty minutes in total length. I was proud of it. But in the end, I was told that I couldn't air it. Again, I would have GLADLY welcomed any other viable candidates to be a guest, especially President Trump. To my thinking, the best way to a reasoned, thoughtful position on any topic, is to hear from both sides. Regardless, the interview was killed. I did, however, ask for permission to post the interview on my own personal SoundCloud account. I was given that blessing, and I am happy to share it with you there. Hello America I've waited and waited for an Iowa for Pete account to come about but alas, I have been disappointed So I decided, along with my good friend and fellow Pete supporter, to create the first Iowa for Pete Instagram account A small bit about me to start; My name is Henry and I am currently 17 years of age. I will be a first time voter in the upcoming 2020 election and I have known who I am casting my vote for since late January of this year when I saw the phenomenal pete.buttigieg on colbertlateshow. As you all know, Pete is very well spoken, smart, realistic and motivated to make a change; all key things this country should not only want, but currently NEEDS in a president. More posts to come soon with more information on myself and Cas, and of course future posts about Pete (and friends ☺️) are coming your way ~ Henry - {Tags to help spread the word} - petebuttigieg petebuttigieg2020 buttigieg buttigieg2020 buttigang bootedgeedge chastenbuttigieg 2020 2020election america usa changethechannel iowa ia politics thelateshow stephencolbert lgbt lgbthistory gay democrat genz millenials vote registertovote

Spent the last two days in Nashville hanging out with pete.buttigieg 👍🏻👏🏻 🇺🇸 In all seriousness, I got to the opportunity to hear him speak twice and I was blown away. He is genuine, intelligent, creative, and full of ideas of how to make our country all that it CAN be. In a time where we could be easily discouraged, he is full of hope and so am I.
