So today is my Birthday, and I just realized I'm halfway to 50. Oh man I'm old! 👵😂
There is still so much that I want to do, places I want to travel/go back and visit, subjects I want to learn about, new hobbies I want to try and see if I'm any good at.
Whoever said that life is too short, is right, it really is. Time keeps moving, we'll stop to breathe and rest, but time won't wait on us. That's why every second counts, every moment meaningful.
Which reminds me: Recently I kept getting asked the questions "why do you like drag?" "what is so special about it?" "When will you grow out of it?" Honestly, I don't know, its just something I've always been drawn to. Its art, its expression, its whatever you want it to be. It can be serious, it can be playful. It can just be dressing up and feeling your oats or making a statement. It can be a way to feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin, or an escape to be whatever you want to be.
As an outsider looking in, it really is whatever you want it to be. And that aspect of drag is attractive. Not having to worry about conformity, just doing what makes you happy.
I've joked in the past that if I ever had the talent and commitment that goes into being a Queen, my drag aesthetic would be undead bollywood princess, dripping in gold and jewellery. So I decided to draw her. Her overall look and makeup were inspired by some of my favorite queens/people. And no sorry I don't think I'll ever grow out of it. I'll always admire the art of drag, no matter how old I get. 😘
