“In a world of algorithms, hashtags, and followers, know the importance of human connection.” humanity
Saturday was eventful. I finally decided to stop being a hermit around the city and venture to the mountains with Mav. We were driving through a winding, narrow canyon with a raging river on one side and the side of a mountain on the other. A few miles in we came up to a bad accident where EMS and police were already on scene. Traffic wasn’t too backed up yet and we were directed through fairly quickly. A few more miles in a motorcyclist comes flying up on my ass. Being the “slower” vehicle, I pull over at the next available area to let this person pass. I lose sight of him I come around the corner and his bike is shattered on the ground and he’s slowly getting up. Long story short I, and eventually with the help of two others, stopped this guy from bleeding out until EMS could arrive. His arm was SEVERELY severed. I can’t put into words how eternally grateful I am for those two other people who stopped to help. They are/were amazing. As we’re waiting for EMS, we get word that a few miles ahead another motorcycle crash had occurred. It was fatal; it was the guy’s cousin who we were helping.
Mav and I eventually made it to our hiking destination. We didn’t go as far as I had planned; most of our water was used up at the accident. Oh, and we got chased by a bull, protecting his herd — his babies — towards the end of our hike.
