Lent Christian Fasting Tradition Spiritual
As I recently adhered to a vegan lifestyle I decided to join in on the fasting to challenge myself to abstain from drinking alcohol and to only eat between 11a.m. and 7p.m. ( intermittentfasting). Also, I will challenge myself to do some fun fact research about my favorite fruits and vegetables and share them here.
Day 14/46 : the avocado!
Fact 1: Avocados are good for our brain
Due to oleic acid, monosaturated fats and folate. Folate reduces the risk of cognitive damage, as well as decreasing the risk of depression. Monosaturated fats also aid towards reduced risk of depression. Oleic acids aid towards improved cognition.
Fact 2: Avocados are good for our heart
Due to healthy fat acids, fiber, potassium, vitamin C, phytosterols, which all support healthy heart function and help to ward off heart disease.
Fact 3: Avocados are good for our immune system
Due to vitamins A and C, that support the immune system in detecting and destroying harmful pathogens.
Fact 4: Avocados are good for our bones, teeth and gum
Due to vitamin A and C.
Fact 5: Avocados are good for our eyes
Due to carotenoids as well as other antioxidant compounds, vitamin A and C, where the carotenoid vitamin A helps prevent macular degeneration and assists in drainage of the eyes.
Fact 6: Avocados are good for our skin and hair
Due to vitamin A and C, that enhance collagen production which provides structure to skin and prevents sagging and wrinkling, as well as hair moisturizing.
Fact 7: Avocados are good for our blood pressure
Due to high potassium and being low in sodium.
Fact 8: Avocados are good for our bowel movement
Due to high fiber and water content, promoting metabolic health.
Fact 9: Avocados are good for insulin levels
It is claimed to have antidiabetic health benefits.
Fact 10: Avocados contain good fat acids, vitamin A and C, fiber and beta-carotene, that protect cells against inflammation and damage from free radicals.
