Dramatic? Yes. Really?? Also yes!🥴 When I started this debt free journey in October I was super gazelle intense. That meant cancelling gym memberships, not purchasing protein powder/supplements, and working instead of working out. I put off getting eye exams and ordering new contacts/glasses to save money. I wore the same contacts 3x as long as I should.🤮 I even tried to order new contacts on my expired Rx so that I wouldn’t have to pay for the new more expensive contacts as a result of a change in my vision. 🤦🏻‍♀️ tell me that’s not dedication! (Totally don’t recommend this btw.) This was embarrassing. I was shoveling thousands to debt but feeling guilty about spending $80 on my health for new contacts?? 😔 So, I reprioritized my goals, and my health is above all. This month I got my gym membership started up again, purchased a meal/workout plan with a local trainer, and emailed my side hustle boss to give me one shift less a week so that I can workout more. Here’s to striving to be debt free AND healthy! 💪🤗

“If I only had enough WILLPOWER, strength, control over myself than we wouldn’t have [fill in the blank - so much debt, too little savings etc. etc.].” The reality is that your willpower has nothing to do with your [again fill in the blank] ballooning debt, over-spending or lack of savings. The financial habits and budget you’ve attempted to force on yourself or your family are usually a distraction to avoid looking deeper at the real issue at hand. A bandaid fix that always start with the best of intentions, but ultimately erodes at your self-confidence when it fails or you miss the intended mark. Check out my latest blog post on why your budgets have failed [link in bio]. ✨💸

My memories on Facebook reminded me of this picturesque scene of exactly one year ago. I spent a week in England working on a baroque opera. Travel and board were booked by the organization- and they put us right on the coast in these beautiful summer cottages. It was a fantastic musical and personal experience. Financial freedom is that moment when you can stop working your day job (like, forever) and all your bills will still be paid. Can we just agree that we're all trying to get there as quickly as possible? . What would you give up now to be financially independent in the future? Are you team Lean FIRE or team Fat FIRE? . We're comparing the two and looking at different ways to get there this week. Today’s blog post is about who gets to make art and the importance of POC representation in art. Because dismantling systemic racism means intentionally supporting POC in the work that we do.⁣ .⁣ It means participating in conversations about privilege, race, and oppression on an ongoing basis. In business, in art, and in life.⁣ .⁣ I’m not an anti-racism expert and you might not be either. Even so, we have to talk about these things. Otherwise, we risk doing harm to humans we claim to care about.⁣ .⁣ The good news is, the first step is to listen to understand. It’s to be open to hearing what POC have to say about the support that they need.⁣ .⁣ All of us are capable of doing that. So let’s start there.⁣ .⁣ Okay? $74,494 is the amount I will net if I were to make a $100,000 gross salary in the State of Florida. (Single, 0 dependents) . Florida and a few other states pay the least in taxes (Employees). The reason for this post is to show that if you think people making more money than you is the reason why they can reduce debt and you cant, well that’s just not the case Sure they have extra money coming in BUT they get taxed even more from the government and if they live in a state with a much higher tax rate such as California, they are lucky to see $65,000 of that money It’s evident that making more money somehow and some way will aide in the reduction of debt, but don’t get caught up in the “if only my employer gave me a raise” mentality People who make a decent salary ($100,000 and more from this example) still have to consider making a budget and will probably still have debt issues The best mentality to have is finding different avenues of income, reducing monthly expenses and laser focusing on your end goal. Creating a reasonable budget gives you an immediate raise in your finances Let me know if you agree in the comments below!

Feeling very meh about March as related to our financial journey we’ve only paid $1,703.65 (barely over our minimums) to debt this month. We paid for our vacation (yeah, we’re taking one 🤦🏻‍♀️) house in full, paid some small medical expenses, and paid to landscape our new construction yard. This week, we are also paying for two dogs to go to the vet and for a serious tune up on my car since it hit 100k miles. We also ate out too much this month. I’m mad at myself but trying to stay positive and stay the course. This country isn't perfect, but we all have so much opportunity 🙏🏾 We have the opportunity to work, learn anything we want, earn more, get out of debt, build a business, live on our own terms, change our family tree, travel the world, or even retire early. Not to mention, we have the freedom to impact the lives of so many others. It's easy to focus on what we lack or let discouragement sink in, but one thing we can't afford to not take advantage of is the opportunity to create a better, fuller life. I’ve been listening to Dave in someway shape or form for the last 13 years. My in-laws gave us FPU on CD right after we got married. Best. Thing. Ever You’ll learn more about that later, but we didn’t follow his plan exactlyBUT we made it through a lot of debt and our thoughts on money FOREVER changed. I always thought debt wasn’t a big deal (pre FPU) 🤪. We never made it to Tennessee for our big debt free scream. We just did our own little scream at home. ⁣ ⁣ Last fall I ran a 1/2 marathon with some high school friends and going to ramsey.solutions was on my bucket list. It was so great It was so awesome to be there and meet like minded people. The staff was amazing and overall a great experience. Our schedule didn’t allow us to stay long so it was short and sweet. I did get to meet Dave though. After scaring myself half to death at how much we needed for retirement 😲 the other day, I got busy learning. Thank goodness I follow very savvy financial gurus like savemycents because she pointed me in the right direction! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is for my small business owners. We have the advantage of saving in a SEP IRA. The best part about it is that unlike traditional IRA's (for everyone else) our contribution limits are 25 % total what we earn or $55,000! (Whichever is lower) This is vastly different than what anyone else can do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are some more things to know: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ∆ all your contributions are immediately vested ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ∆ you can't withdrawl before age 59 ½ without paying a penalty (ok cool) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ∆ you MUST begin withdrawing money at 70 ½ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ∆ you can roll over an old SEP IRA into a new IRA at any time ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ∆ Having an SEP doesn't affect the amount you can contribute to a traditional Roth IRA, IRA or 401k. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm looking forward to learning more about this and start investing in our retirement properly. So to all my stylists, estheticians, party planners, makeup artist, accountants, etc… this is for YOU.

A big majority of the workforce still commutes to work. Not everyone has the privilege of working remotely or being self employed and working from home! For those of us who commute to work we have different options. The ""comfort"" of our vehicle, transit or even biking! Since biking is a little dependant on the elevation profile of your commute as well as dependant on weather, we'll leave it out of this post and come back to it later on. By comparing driving and transit we can see the huge opportunity that cutting our ""driving to work"" habit represents! For me it is not just the joy of saving so much money but also the fact that I can be 100% focused on my audiobook/podcast and if Im very tired I can even take a little nap. Not to mention that most of the time it is faster, as you don't need to be stuck in traffic or look for parking in crowded Downtown areas. 🚨You cant fight debt with DEBT🚨 • I’ve had more than one client come to me who had “consolidated” their debt, didn’t stick to a budget, and ran the cards up once again.💳📈 • Debt consolidation fixes the SYMPTOMS of the issue: 👉🏻the minimum payments. • Debt consolidation does NOT fix the root of the issue:👉🏻 overspending. • The debt consolidation with the most risk is a home equity line of credit (HELOC).🏡 • A HELOC takes equity out of your home to pay off your debts and puts your HOME at risk if you miss payments.😥 • It’s not flashy or quick and painless but paying off debt by using a budget and living within your means leads to lasting success with little to no risk!👍🏻 • debtfreecommunity livelikenooneelse debtfree gazelle debtfreedom personalfinance bblexperience financialfreedom financialpeaceuniversity financialpeace money budgeting debtfreescream daveramseyplan babysteps financialcoach financialcoaching dfc continuingeducation debtsnowball client frugal jessiemariebookkeeping savingmoneytips moneytips ramseypreferredcoach debtfreecharts chrishogan360 Rachelcruze daveramsey

Stop worrying about your past money mistakes because NOW is the time to fix them. Stop saying to yourself, "when I get a raise I'll save more money" or "when I get paid again I'll set some money aside". Start saving TODAY! Even if it's $1 or $5 or $100. You know what my favorite question to ask people is? What's your story? We meet people in a specific chapter of their life. If you are new here you'll see my season of life right now but that doesn't mean you know my story. I always wanted to be a Christian but didn't quite understand how to "be a good one." I wouldn't have guessed that my deep love for Jesus would be cultivated at Michigan State University. cruatstate played a big role in my growth. I wrestled with the realization that even my best days fell short and left me separated from a holy God. Romans 3:23 says for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. Oh the depths He went to seek after and redeem His ! My purpose through marriage, motherhood, my business, and life is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. I talk about practical health here and this is a story in itself. My body has been through 3 pregnancies and I'll tell you this: my mindset was much different before , after my first two, and now working on number 4. I'm on this cruise with people who have their own story. Aside from the company name, we're all bodies on a beach today. The journey that led to these men and women to becoming coaches themselves has looked so very different. I've been asking this question to people I meet this week. A common theme of how the stories begin is so simple yet shows the impact you can have: "I watched someone who I related to and she inspired me to take action." This is my desire for the women who join my team. Those who can look past "being salesy" and see that this is an opportunity to be light in darkness in the health & fitness industry. What a joy.
