How am I treating my doctor like a mind reader? Think back on your most recent exam. Did it go something like this: show up, fill out their forms, tell them the important info for why you are here and answer some questions? They examined you, told you their findings, maybe drew blood and then there or later gave you recommendations. Yes? Yes-ish? No? If you answered yes or yes-ish, you are treating your doctor like a mind reader. If you answered, no because some of the above didn’t happen, you are treating your doctor like a mind reader. And if you treat your doctor like a mind reader, you are hoping for better health instead of giving them what they need to develop your personal better health plan. One doctor recently told me: “We know we need all the information about their total nutrition, but we never have the 45 minutes minimum needed.” But you do. You can spend 30 minutes and prepare your total nutrition to share with your doctor. And if you don’t, you aren’t doing your part. Yep, you are partially responsible for your healthcare plan. Oh, and you, yeah you need to STOP letting your patients treat you like a mind reader. You don’t have to use our better nutrition assessment tools to collect and share your total nutrition. We just offer them to make it easy and efficient to gather, share and update your current nutrition information. We worked with practitioners to develop each tool so the information the tool gathers reflects the most important information your doctor needs.
