N E W HOME| This project is so special to me for so many reasons. Having a sanctuary has always been my dream. 🌙
Torry and I moved in together in 2006, I moved into his house 🏡 which was beautiful, and something he had worked extremely hard to build himself.
But I always wanted to be able to make something my own 🥰
When we moved to Portland 🌲, we purchased a house together! (My first) which is why PDX has a special place in my heart ♥️ but I knew it was a short term fix as Torry wanted to eventually move back to LA.
When we sold our house in Portland in 2017, I was on the livebeyoga tour with yogajournal, that same week brantdwilliams and I were doing our tour stop in Portland! That’s also the same week I broke my hand 😏 brokenwing darthvaderhand
I was so devastated 😩 not because of the hand, but because of what was happening You see, I come from a family who has struggled to make ends meet. Both my parents immigrated to this country to provide a better life for themselves I grew up in a chaotic environment, gangsdrugsLA riots 🚓 so I never felt safe in my home a 2 bedroom apartment shared with 9 people in East LA.
Owning property was a fantasy that would never be indulged Having a safe space, my own space is something I always dreamed of, and why this house is already so specialI’m a home body, opposed to what people may think (since I travel every week ✈️ ) I’m grateful to travel 🌎, but I also love being home 🏡. Torr and I have been in a rental since 2017, and when we decided we were ready to buy our next space I knew it had to be super special There were a lot of sacrifices that Torr and I made to be able to make this happen it’s been taxing on us physically, mentally and emotionally and at times on our relationship mostly because I tend to blame him for everything that goes wrong 😏 truth
I know that for both of us, this year has been really challenging and it feels like we’ve been running a 2 year marathon and we are getting to the finish line tomorrow! 🙌🏽 📷 by: torrypendergrass a candid shot from our new front yard 🤭🥰🙏🏽
