For some absurd existential reason, we're wired to not talk about certain things, and that has a lot to do with what we cannot perceive in an immediate sense, like how nearly everyone on earth has no recollection of the time they stepped on and devastated an entire family of ants, malingering stepbrother and all.
When you spend time with different types from quite literally every possible crevice on earth, it becomes apparent after a few lines of coke and some god awful smores that you do not understand existence and its various attachments the way you (and most other fools) think you do.
Because if you did, which happens to be the reason why some people (nations) think they should control others, you'd recognise that the painfully predictable conversation starters and proceeding course of verbal murder are slowly killing off any chance of a genuine, human connection between us - the maladjusted creatures that are responsible for the flavour in dirt.
Here. "Where are you from?" isn't "what's your name?" or "tell me more about yourself," and "what are your travel plans?" definitely shouldn't be mistaken for "what makes you happy these days?" I'd like to think my name and passion is of more relevance than where my mom decided to conceive me, or *gasps*, my biological features, but 'you do you' seems to be the millennial motto at present, so god forbid anyone who tries to go against the grain by asking actual questions.
Meaning is lost when you go through the motions. That's a travel thing we don't talk about, enough.
I hope you find people with grand questions and grander answers.
