~NEW SPECIES Day 5 of 10~
MANGROVE SNAPPER - When you’re are chasing Ben Furimsky bfurminator and Jeff Currier jeffcurrier65 (400+) for new species on a fly, no fish can be ignored. We were hunting Snook at the time which means pounding the edge of the mangroves. If you can skip or side arm cast your fly under the mangroves, even better. When you do, you sometimes find yourself tied into a new species or two. This little guy was fun and thanks to my good friend and guide Vinnie of pescamayafishing, we safely sent him on his way.
Here is what wiki has to say: The Mangrove Snapper or Gray Snapper is a species of snapper native to the western Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea. They can be found in a wide variety of habitats, including brackish and fresh waters. (Wikipedia)
