A FEW LINES A DAY |About Happiness|
Conversation between two ladies I overheard last weekend in a cafe:
“I will look for a job with a good boss. A nice house. A man who is rich and handsome then I’ll be happy. Look at me now! There’s nothing happy in my life happening. I have one of the most annoying boss. I’ve never found a good man who can make me happy. I’m sick of my life!” I thought: How can she ever be happy? She got it in a wrong order. Very often we tend to fall into a similar trap- we make ourself hopeless and frustrated by trying to find happiness after doing or achieving something. We do everything because of a result that We want. We are living a life that is result-oriented. There is a big problem here, we have forgotten that the result usually cannot be controlled by us. We will eventually feel disappointed every now and then, whenever we don’t get a result we want.
According to Adler, happiness is acceptance of an incapable self. Instead of being trapped in misery because “I haven’t done or achieved this and that, I cannot be happy”, we can accept that each of us has limitation, and do the best we can. We will then start to be able to embrace events hat are happening around us, and to enjoy the process of making a contribution in creating a better world, despite our incapabilities.
Believe it or not, when a woman is genuinely happy, she wears a smile and soft light around her that will attract the man of her life.
