"At what age should I quit pursuing music as a career?" At what age do you think it's appropriate to stop doing something you love? As long as you are financially sustainable, I don't see any reason to stop, ever.
The irony is that the less you care about the results and simply focus on the craft, the more likely you are to SEE the results. The trick is finding something that you truly love. Most musicians think that music is their thing, but it's really not. If it were, they would work a lot harder then they do.
If you truly love something, you do the work and as a result have a high probability of becoming the best at it, and if you become the best at it, thanks to the internet, there's a high probability that you could find other people who love that too and would be willing to pay you to either spectate or teach THEM how to do it.
