As far back as I can remember, Music has always played an instrumental (see what I did there? 🙃) role in my life.
Whether it was hearing “That Thing” by Lauryn Hill for the first time out of my neighbor’s boom box as a bright eyed & lanky 5 year old, or rushing home from elementary/ middle school to find my mom blaring Celine Dion & throwing down in the kitchen to bless us with a Dominican feast, or the Sunday’s that my family would drive across the GWB to have dinner at our favorite Washington Heights Dominican restaurant, El Malecón & Papi would play the air guitar to the greatest Bachata classics on the co-pilot’s knee cap😂 or the thousands of other songs that have contributed to the soundtrack of my life through moments of happiness, being in love, heartbreak, grief, college drunken nights, triumph and everything else in between.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that the power Music has is not only evident in my life but it’s magnitude of influence has shaped humanity as a whole which speaks volumes. I’ll forever feel grateful towards the artists that have influenced me in small and large ways. 🎤✍🏼 ThursdayThoughts
