Grannyweekend at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, Def Jam Recordings kicked off Grammy week festivities with an “Open Studio” event designed to introduce over a dozen of the label’s newest signings, the forthcoming UNDISPUTED compilation album, and its accompanying 8-part documentary series launching next month.
The all-day event was hosted by Chairman & CEO Paul Rosenberg, EVP and head of A&R Steven Victor, VP of A&R Alexander “AE” Edwards, A&R’s Pedro Genao and Rico Beats, and EVP of content Noah Callahan-Bever.
Tastemakers from press and radio, music supervisors, TV bookers, execs and programmers from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Pandora, the NFL, and more were welcomed by remarks from Paul Rosenberg & Steven Victor – who outlined the label’s vision for the future as the UNDISPUTED greatest label and home for artists in hip-hop history – and a viewing of the trailer and first episode of Def Jam’s upcoming UNDISPUTED documentary series, accompanying the March 8th release of the album.
The UNDISPUTED album played on a loop in the main studio and on the patio, while UNDISPUTED artists YFL Kelvin, TJ Porter, Landstrip Chip, SNEAKK, Lul G, Sensi Molly & Lil Brooke,Fetty Luciano, Nimic Revenue, and Bernard Jabs held breakout sessions in the adjoining studios, where guests piled in to intimate listening sessions with the artists.
An In-N-Out Burger truck served up over 300 Double Doubles, and Courvoisier provided cocktails at the all-day event. Notable guests included Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, YouTube’s Lyor Cohen, Karen Civil, YouTube’s Tuma Basa, TIDAL’s Elliott Wilson, iHeart’s Doc Wynter, GMA’s Monica Escobedo and more.
