You get to see and feel your body changing as well as your mind in so many cases. It's not bodybuilding. It's pushing and pulling weights through functional movements and full range of motion to make your body the best version of your body it can be. It's so much fun and gives you an enormous sense of achievement. The movements are endless, you never get bored because there are so many variations to every exercise. Stronger bones. Stronger joints. Stronger muscles. Stronger heart. Stronger lungs. Improved mobility. Improved mental health. These are and example of the benefits of resistance training. Losing weight doesn't have to include any cardio at all if you don't like it. Quadzilla! 💪💪🇷🇴 Don’t skip leg day. Heavy squats and deadlifts really boost your natural testosterone levels. I perform stiff leg deadlifts after squats and I never do conventional deadlifts. Shoutout to fitking_plem and dhouzer for showing me the natty ways 15+ years ago. I trained with Darnell when I was 14 years old up until about 16 years old and by the time I was 15 I was putting all kinds of pressure on most enhanced men. Full disclosure - I have nothing against anyone taking steroids, it’s their personal decision. However, I do have an issue when it comes to teenagers and men (under 23) taking steroids. You are not fully developed until about 25/26 and your body is naturally producing more than enough anabolic hormones to make serious gains. Now if you’re a competitive bodybuilder who has a chance of winning Mr. O, then all the power to you. But in my opinion it makes absolutely no sense to take a drug/drugs to get ripped or bigger for the beach. (I’d argue that being too lean is less dangerous than being too fat.) . But there’s a body fat % sweet spot for men, this is between 10-15% and for women this is between 20-25%. (For a highly athletic individual ’d argue a little less than each of these body fat % is doing them no harm) . The sweet spot is where the negative effects of either extreme are mitigated and the positive effects of maintaining a health level of body fat amplified Many idolise the extreme low body fat percentage of physique athletes / models. But these physiques don’t come without negative side effects! Sex hormones take a plummet when body fat % is at an extreme. Women can become infertile and men can struggle to get it up. The reasons why this happens is for another post another time Sustaining a ultra lean physique all year round usually requires additional help 💉, which is grossly misleading to the average public, who believe most of these athletes/models are natural. 3️⃣ things I wish someone would have told me when starting my fitness journey…👇🏼 Let’s be honest, starting out can be scary and so overwhelming. We start with one Google search and before you know it, we think we need to eat hard boiled eggs for every meal and do hours of cardio. We’re thinking… WELP this is IT. I am just going to be miserable for a few months I am here to save you some time and brain damage and although there are SEVERAL things I wish I would’ve know, these are the three that I think I believed with all my heart 1️⃣ You don’t have to do cardio every day. This is a big one for me! I did not do what works best for me or what I can sustain, I was just chasing after instant gratification and following what my favorite fitness icons did. You don’t have to do cardio everyday to see results. A large portion of your results will rely on your diet 2️⃣ Don’t overcomplicate the process. Stick to the basics when you first start your journey and don’t overcomplicate it. Have a workout routine in place and make sure your diet is on point. That’s it 3️⃣ Find a nutrition plan that works for YOU! There are so many different types of diets out there and honestly it comes down to a caloric deficit and finding the best one that you can sustain. 210lbs moving good attempted 220lbs twice but failed both times. I’m not posting those as the ending needs edited 🤪. Frustration and my sticking point got the better of me today As I have been training lately, I noticed my sticking spot is right where my pin squats were, and those have been out of my program for the last 3 weeks. This past weekend listening to all of the speakers one common topic was limiting beliefs Our lives, choices and actions, the way we think all starts being programmed in our brains from early childhood. Most of us, and I know myself included, have limiting beliefs or doubts any time we start to go out of our comfort zone Whether that be . •quitting a job . •traveling . •starting a new journey . •going to the gym the first time Whatever it may be, if it’s something new, or something making us go out of our day to day life we often have thoughts like . * I can’t to that, I don’t know enough . * I’m not worthy of doing that . * I’m stupid for thinking I can do this, nobody really believes in me Although, in reality those are all limiting beliefs and not a single excuse you make for yourself is true erindimondfitness said it perfectly👉🏽 🐘 limiting beliefs are like elephants in the zoo From the time they are a baby they have a chain around their leg attached to a post, as a baby they can’t break free of that, growing into an adult they still believe that to be true, but in reality with their size they could now break free Our limiting beliefs are just like that chain, a belief and not reality The first step towards transforming yourself is accepting you have beliefs that are holding you back And, the good news is just how our brains are programmed now, we can begin to reprogram them at any time. Why say no to new opportunities? Whether it’s a trip, going out with friends, getting a coach, expanding your knowledge, whatever opportunity presents itself to you, step out of your comfort zone and do it I landed in Texas for a business trip yesterday. I had a lot of resistance going, after the girl I was supposed to go with backed out I second guessed going. I had never flown alone, never even traveled alone. I was scared, but I got down here (after a meltdown going into the airport🙃), and I’m so happy I did It is day two of this event, and I’m so blessed to be here with so many like minded people. There is not an ounce of me that regrets coming here, although if I stayed home based off of fear I would regretted not coming Its funny how our minds do that isn’t it? Based off of uncomfortable circumstances (aka traveling alone) I was going to ditch and event that will help me go further in life, get closer to my goal So if you ever have an opportunity to see the world, do something you typically wouldn’t do, or do something to get you closer to a goal you have, do it I don’t regret any of the things I’ve done, I just regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance too. Don’t put yourself in the positive to regret things you didn’t do based off of fear
