An inexhaustible source of inexhaustible sources
116х107, acrylic on canvas
There is a boat in the sea, filled with blood. The tree grows from the boat, and it has a chalice inside. All inexhaustible sources originate from this chalice. The wonder-birds on the tree maintain a balance, and the boat is stable in the turbulent water.
The painting was inspired by the two-month trip to Assala, Bedouin village near Dahab, Egypt. We stayed there with our friends, and one evening we were sitting on the terrace, and the friend of mine wrote on the wall “An inexhaustible source of inexhaustible sources” and drew a spiral. I instantly visualized in my mind the image of my future painting.
It is dedicated to some mysterious power, which created this world. To something from where everything comes from. To the ancient balance of good and evil, of black and white, of West and East, of the Earth and the Sky.
The birds on the tree with human faces were inspired by Kinnaras, Indian half-human half-bird creatures who watch over the well-being of humans in times of trouble or danger. In this painting, they protect the Source by establishing the balance and not allowing the boat to fall into the sea.
The tree is rooted in the blood, which means the fertile and fruitful substance, like where the baby grows in the womb
