From today's Market Outlook newsletter - Santander results disappoint Based on data released this morning Spain’s Santander (also known in amusing UK adverts as the Bank of Antandec) saw second quarter net earnings slump 18 per cent to €1.4 billion from €1.7 billion in Q2 2018. Though net interest income rose 5.6 per cent and non-performing loans shrank again, the bank was hit by a one-off €708 million charge for restructuring costs in Spain linked to the integration of failing Banco Popular. Business conditions in Britain continued to be a challenge for the bank though operations in Brazil and the US were humming along nicely. Further round the Mediterranean, Italy’s biggest bank, Unicredit, is said to be mulling 10,000 job cuts, Bloomberg reports. Part of a cost-cutting drive – and after failed merger talks – the move is probably too late and doesn’t tackle the overhanging problem loans. Want to see more? Alright I’ve just been crunching the numbers on my side hustle and also what I spent this month. — This was a great month for sales! Although this total does include shipping so the actual sales total is $384 (I included shipping last month but I didn’t do a breakdown so I thought I’d keep it consistent). — I really didn’t do a budget this month because I just didn’t know what I’d need or what the cost of things would be and it was a mistake. I gave myself way too much free reign and I paid the price. This next month I will be more regimented and go back to cash envelopes! — The great thing is I’ve managed to put away enough for the balance of the pram, for little loves passport and buy some baby clothes - so even though I shopped a bit (read a lot) it was kind of okay in the end? Next month I hope I can improve on my spending categories especially eating out/shopping!

Burberry's runway run away It’s a triumph, darling! Shares in luxury fashion group Burberry fizzed 15 per cent higher on news of a “very promising” reception to the new collection Riccardo Tisci, the creative head the company appointed last year. Like-for-like sales growth in Burberry’s first quarter to the end of June came in at 4 per cent, which was about double what analysts had expected. Demand was particularly strong in China and from tourists. The company said it expects trading to be in line with expectations for the year, but an underlying £7m currency hit is now expected to turn into a £15m benefit. Progress is also being made with plans to cut £120m of costs by 2020 and revitalise the brand - including the closure of 38 small stores, the revamp of 23 others and stronger digital engagement. APPLY FOR A SECURED CREDIT CARD If you’re building your credit score from scratch, you’ll likely need to start with a secured credit card. A secured card is backed by a cash deposit you make upfront; the deposit amount is usually the same as your credit limit. You’ll use the card like any other credit card: Buy things, make a payment on or before the due date, incur interest if you don’t pay your balance in full. Your cash deposit is used as collateral if you fail to make payments. You’ll receive your deposit back when you close the account ✅ Secured credit cards aren’t meant to be used forever. The purpose of a secured card is to qualify for a card without a deposit. Secured credit cards aren’t meant to be used forever. The purpose of a secured card is to build your credit enough to qualify for an unsecured card —a card without a deposit and with better benefits. Choose a secured card with a low annual fee and make sure it reports to all three credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion ✅APPLY FOR A CREDIT-BUILDER LOAN A credit-builder loan is exactly what it sounds like — its sole purpose is to help people build credit. Typically, the money you borrow is held by the lender in an account and not released to you until the loan is repaid. It’s a forced savings program of sorts, and your payments are reported to credit bureaus. These loans are most often offered by credit unions or community banks; at least one lender offers them online. GET A CO-SIGNER It’s also possible to get a loan or an unsecured credit card using a co-signer. But be sure that you and the co-signer understand that the co-signer is on the hook for the full amount owed if you don’t pay. (See “What You Need to Know About Co-signing.”) ✅BECOME AN AUTHORIZED USER ON SOMEONE ELSE’S CREDIT CARD A family member or significant other may be willing to add you as an authorized user on his or her card. As an authorized user, you’ll enjoy access to a credit card and you’ll build credit history, but you aren’t legally obligated to pay for your charges.Find out whether the card issuer reports authorized user activity to the credit bureaus.

It was slightly more than a year since I first started tracking my expenses. I was always the big picture guy, I don't really look into the details. Don't get me wrong, I still have a budget and I know where do I spend my money, roughly. Little did I know, budgeting and expense tracking works so well together. It provided me with so much more data and insights to tweak my budget for the coming months. So after a grim feeling this morning, today has ended on a high. We picked out kitchen choices for our house and paid for them at the end of April. We paid around £4k for various upgrades (mostly flooring and tiling) and one upgrade was £450 for gloss kitchen units rather than matte. The only reason we upgraded was because 'brilliant white' didn't come in the matte and the 'white' matte looked a completely different colour to the gloss! Ive been thinking about changing it for ages cos I just don't think I want gloss units - they are SHIII-NEY. At the start of June, after being informed about yet another delay, I asked about changing and was told a firm 'no'. I was told that the units had already been delivered 🙄 and there was no way they could be changed. Well last week my husband spoke to the manager of the development about completion dates and mentioned that we wanted to change the kitchen. She told him we could??? So I got straight up lied to by one of the sales women when I originally asked 🙄🙄🙄 Tonight we went and changed to the matte white. It's more of like the lightest of greys I think? I've uploaded a photo of the new units with the flooring and worktop we've picked, in front of the white gloss units in the show home. I just don't think I wanted all that shine in my kitchen. Anyway, we should be receiving a refund of £450 at some point this week This will go straight into my 'house fund' monzo pot which we will be using to cover final solicitors costs, moving costs and white goods. I've been really worried about affording all these bits so I'm really chuffed to have almost an extra £500 to go towards it. On top of that I'VE HAD A NO SPEND DAY 💸💸💸💸💸 that's SO rare for me. I really had to stop myself nipping into mini Tesco before to just get 'bits'. Tomorrow won't be a no spend day as I need to get bread buns to go with our tea 🤣 I'm due to work about 12 hours tomorrow so the thought of a nice veggie burger and wedges while I'm watching love island is the only thing that's gonna get me through 🤣🤣🤣 easily pleased aren't I 🤣
