I know, I know your pet is like family, right? While we know you love your pet, it’s important to keep in mind that not all potential homebuyers will and that alone could potentially break the deal. Here are a few tips to our pet owners looking to sell their home:
1. Remove your pet during showings literally and figuratively: Buyers like to envision themselves in the home they are looking to purchase. Pictures of your cat or dog toys laying around will make it more difficult to do so. Also, removing your pet from the home removes the potential liability of your friendly pet biting a stranger or accidentally escaping the property.
2. Repair any damages: Our fur babies may be cute, but the damage they are capable of doing is not. Prior to listing, be sure to repair any damage to flooring, carpet, walls, yard-work, fencing, etc. Trust me, the investment will be worth it!
3. Remove pet stains and orders: ‘Nuff said.
4. Clean your yard: Nobody wants to step in 💩, no matter how loveable the pup is. Make sure your yard is neatly manicured and free of waste. You want the buyer to remember how clean your yard was, not how hard it was to clean the bottom of their shoes. 😉
