The humerus sits on the glenoid fossa creating the glenohumeral joint. The rotator cuff muscles secure/stabilize/centrate this joint- whatever you want to call it. Have you ever felt a sureness about something so deep that it is living in your bones? And if you have was it followed by mind crippling fear? You know? You envision this most amazing thing and almost immediately your ego wants to tear it apart with doubt and fear. It is so unfair. I am having an epiphany in my own life right now - I am feeling this incredibly deep connection to my intuition and my vision, but the shadows of doubt and fear are always right there fighting me. My favourite squat & front squat cues🦄 I really think that having a set of cues you go through in your mind and eventually internalize can be immensely helpful when it comes to working on your form (especially for compounds). As I always say, my compounds are still largely a work in progress, but I thought I’d share my favourite cues for these two movements as they are and have been staple exercises in my training blocks for almost a year now SQUATS (I’m doing low bar here) 1. As you unrack the barbell, think of creating a “shelf” for the bar by slightly flaring your elbows out and placing the barbell on your rear delts. 2. Breath in and slightly tuck your chin under, but look in front of you. 3. Hinge at the hips as you sit back and down. 4. Think of pushing the floor away with your feet and push your knees out. 5. Keep the movement tight by squeezing your core For front squats: 1. Place the barbell on your anterior delts. You should Basically feel it touching your neck. 2. Engage the lats & keep your elbows up throughout the entire movement. 3. Sit back and down (but don’t hinge at the hips to the extent you would with a back squat). 4. Push the floor away and squeeze your core.
