[The Clear Skin Solution] . I’ve had some people comment on how clear and smooth (dare I say radiant and glowing) my skin has been looking lately and they want to know my secret As a previous Accutane user, I know all about greasy, oily, blemished skin. I’ve dealt with that most of my life But the truth is I didn’t get clear and smooth skin overnight and it wasn’t just one thing that did the trick A few of the things that I did are: . 1. Switched to a more plant-based diet. I still eat meat but not as much as I did before. I make sure I have some greens with most if not all meals. And I’ve been eating a lot of smoothies with greens and fruit (among other things) mixed in. 2. Exercise! As a physical therapist I’ve known how good exercise is for the body but making it a priority when my schedule gets busy with work and family has been a game changer for my overall physical and mental health. 3. Sleep! Making 8 hours of GOOD, uninterrupted sleep has been a struggle for me and its something I am still working on but makes a big difference as well 4. [The Formula For Getting You Back In The Game] 💯 . This is quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to build both shoulder strength and stability. 🙋🏻‍♂️ . By hanging weights (kb’s, db’s, etc) from resistance bands, the instability of the movements is significantly increased which means that your neuromuscular dynamic control is greatly challenged. Basically it takes a lot of work to balance the weight with the band. And with increased time under tension, these exercises require recruitment of large motor units which = increased strength. 💪🏻 The bands will also make you move in a slow, controlled fashion with proper technique and increases the proprioceptive demands, which makes this great for both athletes looking to boost performance but is also great in the rehab setting to help build the stability of the shoulder - especially if you have issues with a subluxing or dislocating shoulder(s). 🏋️‍♀️ 🤽🏼‍♂️ . [Want to keep your shoulders health? You NEED this one!] 🔨🔥 . Let’s look at another great exercise to help strengthen up your serratus anterior. 💪🏻 . Remember, this muscle is extremely important when it comes to shoulder health because it not only helps keep your shoulder blade flat against your rib cage, it also help rotate the shoulder blade up when you raise your arm up. 💯 . Without it, you get scapular winging (shoulder blade sticks out) and dyskinesia (shoulder blade isn’t moving properly) and these issues can cause an irritation of the muscles and other structures surrounding the shoulder. 😫 . Now, I know what you are thinking, an ab wheel is for abs… and I agree! It is. BUT, by moving the arms up and away from your body, you are engaging that serratus anterior in a nice slow, controlled manner. This is perfect for building up strength and stability in the shoulder. 🤯 . If you don’t have an ab wheel you can also use a barbell (as long as the ends spin) or a TRX (or other suspension trainer) with the same effects! 🤔 . Let me know what you think. Hey guys what’s going on, Doc Ladd here with Kaizen Health and Wellness. If you have pain or decreased motion when reaching or lifting overhead, then I have 3 exercises that are a must for you! Now, Ive talked before about how muscles like your middle and lower trap and rhomboids are important for shoulder health, but an often overlooked muscle and arguably the most important, is the serratus anterior. Not only does the muscle help to keep the shoulder blade flat against the chest wall, it also helps with upward rotation of the shoulder blade. So while we will often get pain because of scapular winging (aka your shoulder blade is sticking out) we will also get pain with scapular dyskinesia ? which simply means that our shoulder blade isn’t moving properly. And if it’s not rotating upward like it shoulder, it can limit motion and cause irritation of the muscle and structures of the shoulder. Fortunately, there are several things we can do to fix this and here are 3 that I am going to walk you through: 1) Pushup + (on wall or ground) 2) Serratus punch (kb or db) 3) Wall slide w/ foam roll and band (with or w/o band and/or foam roll) These 3 might be tricky at first until you get the hang of the proper motion but don’t give up! These are very helpful and effective to get those synapses firing and to get that serratus strengthened up! Try these out and share with a buddy that has been having shoulder pain!
