Let's talk sunscreen ☀️ If I had to say what I felt was the most important step of any good skincareroutine it would have to be sun protection. A difficult choice for any who know me, I am a multi-step skincare girl - at least 6 😳. Still, it doesn't matter if I double cleanse and use the highest quality essences and serums, if I don't protect my skin from the detrimental effects of the sun. Even on a cloudy day, everyone should wear sunscreen AND reapply throughout the day. Today I wanted to discuss some of the current sunscreen I'm trying.
First up, clarinsusa UV Plus Multi-Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 50. A favorite I always seem to gravitate back to, I love the lightweight consistency and spread-ability of this product. It contains a combination of physical and chemical sunscreens, as well as extracts which are supposed to help strengthen and protect the skin against free radicals. To be honest, I am not sure about how I feel about the the free radical claims. For me, this sunscreen works perfectly under make-up, doesn't leave a greesy residue, and most importantly doesn't cause breakouts of the allergic or acneic kind. ☀️
Next up, neutrogena UltraSheer Liquid Broad Spectrum SPF 70. A slightly thicker liquid compared to clarins but not unbearable. Unfortunately it only contains chemical sunscreens which I don't feel is ideal. A bonus for neutrogena is its water resistant factor, and affordability at nearly a quarter of the price. In a pinch, it works as an acceptable dupe for the Clarins. What I don't love is, due to the slightly thicker consistency, in hot climates my skin sometimes feels itchy with this on.
Lastly, sofina_ginza_jp UV Cut Emulsion Light SPF 50 PA++++. A lightweight jbeauty sunscreen with ceramides and tuberose extract to help hydrate and repair the skin. The lightest consistency of all 3, this fluid absorbs very quickly without leaving any shiny residue. Unfortunately I was only able to use it a couple times due to its potent fragrance, I’m not a fan of fragrance.
In general I prefer thin liquid sunscreens, what are some of your faves?
