As the only means of crossing the Vltava river until 1841, the Charles Bridge (Karlův most) was the most important connection between the Prague Castle and the Old Town, and also gave the city importance as trade route between Eastern and Western Europe. The construction of the 621 m (2,037 ft) long bridge started in 1357 under King Charles IV and was finished in the beginning of the 15th century. The 30 statues on the balustrades on both sides of the bridge, erected mostly between 1683 and 1714, depict various saints and patron saints venerated at that time. Damage caused to those statues over many years has resulted in most of the originals being replaced by replicas in recent decades. The bridge itself has also suffered extensive damage at various times in its long history, including in 1890 when, during a huge flood, three arches were torn down and two pillars collapsed under the pressure of water and floating material such as logs. The latest major repairs went on for 13 years, starting in 1965. New ones are scheduled to start this year and should last around 20 years. travelmore teddybear citytrip traveleurope nomadlife travelingbear europetrip solotravel slowtravel travelandlearn traveltolearn plushielife plushiesofinstagram plushie plushies plushietravel brusselsairlinestravel visitczechia czechia prague visitprague instaprague igersprague architecturelovers architecture architecturelover bridge charlesbridge karluvmost

Rozenhoedkaai, Brugge. 🇧🇪 It would not be a successful trip to Bruges without snapping a picture of this place. 😀 I still cannot believe how beautiful this town is, so many historical buildings, so much culture all squeezed into this tiny area of the city centre. If you haven't been yet, you should definitely visit! And the boat trip on the canals was €10 well spent! 😁🚣‍♀️ rozenhoedkaai brugge inBruges visitbruges bruges inbelgium solotrip sightseeing europetravel theculturetrip solotravel bestcitybreaks travelbug wonderful_places wander shot_europe europetravels citybreaks map_of_europe speechlessplaces wanderer discovereurope travelmore beautifuleurope wandering wanderingandwondering europe_gallery traveleurope explorebelgium europeancities

beach day in Cuba. The morning didn’t start out well-I couldn’t find anywhere to get breakfast, and I eventually got lost. I don’t think breakfast is very big here-and all people eat are ham sandwiches (I don’t eat pork). Yesterday, I finally found a place that served a chicken sandwich, and even though it seemed outrageously priced, it was my only option. It turned out that it was actually quite cheap, but the lady took advantage of my lack of knowledge about the two currencies and accepted my 25 CUC (25 USD) for a sandwich that actually cost 25 CUP (about $1). Oh well, lesson learned. The beach was beautiful, even if the surf was somewhat aggressive and battered me around a bit. havana havanacuba cubatravel travelcuba 🇨🇺 worldtraveler traveler travelblogger solotravel worldtravel aroundtheworld vacation travellife travelblogger travelers travelgram

Had such a blast in London today with leonirel! ✈️ They’re opening in Temple Bar in May and we got to try some of the grub and experience the brand beforehand. Think fresh and healthy fast food. Their vegan Love Burger was my favourite. 😋🍔 LeonIreland LeonDublin (not sponsored / press trip)

A little time lapse clip over the nature reserve where I would go every evening to watch the sunset🌅 I’m doing pretty well lately, I’m feeling *really* productive. I’ve been cleaning and redecorating my room and just getting shit done. Tonight I’m going to a reggae concert to see Alborosie✌🏽 hoping everyone’s weekend is good💚💛❤️

🔸🔹 FOLLOW: taraddeimaurizio for more adventures 📸🌍 🔹🔸 • • • • • • • • • • travel travelblogger travelling travelgram passionpassport travelwriter travelers getaway traveldiaries traveller travelphoto travellife wildernessculture aroundtheworld worldwide solotravel travelmore beautifulplace photo photography instatraveling photograph igers picoftheday pictureoftheday bestoftheday italy bologna canal alley
