Double podium weekend! * I managed to snag 🥈 2nd AG for both San Antonio Spartan Super and Sprint. Great course, though I could do with less of that creek. Day 1 was mostly dry and fast. Day 2 was faster, but those wet obstacles made 100% completion a questionable proposition. * My training ( leaderboard_fit) has been on point and I felt confident going into this weekend. I felt fast, healthy, and ready to race. I felt gold was mine both days, though each day ultimately ended with silver. That's OK. I didn't finish thinking I could push more. Nope, in fact on Sunday I finished collapsed on the ground after giving everything I had. * Congrats to chewbacca_kz for running a hell of a race to win the Sprint on Sunday. I look forward to seeing video of that finish!

I'm not sure if it was the people I met, the daily hikes and adventures we went on together, the fresh fruit and warm sunny weather, or the experience of watching us all grow and improve as future teachers, but this trip to Cali has left such a deep impression on me. I always have fun on vacation, but this was something extra special and I'm still thinking we all need to pool together for that $5.3 million house. (As long as my parents come too, because otherwise I'd miss them too much.)

Here’s the celebration of my team successfully completing the Inaugural San Antonio Super Spartan Race! I had the opportunity to serve as the Official Spartan SGX Coach for the Guided Run that Spartan offers each race. This group showed up strangers of different experiences, levels and goals but left as friends. It was a honor to watch this crew help and inspire each other to give their very best! Every member of the team accomplished something new for their first time. For some it was the Spartan Race and for others, it was an obstacle. The camaraderie, positivity, and support that this group exemplified what Spartan Racing is all about! I am honored to have shared this experience with this crew. I got to step in and sub the Athletic Conditioning class on Saturday and it was a Tabata day! 6 different rounds with a new pair of exercises each round. They alternated between the two and worked for 35 seconds and rested for 10. We finished with hill sprints to find the fastest of the day. And so the weekend of the blackmountainchallenge came to an end. Great weekend for myself as a newby in the mountain running scene, with a win in the Black Mountain Race Saturday and finishing it of with 4th in the BigSky trailrun. This gave me a overall win in Black Montain Extreme challenge. Proud and humbled competing with and against some fantastic athletes. Well done to my mountain running buddy tara_trails taking 1st overall lady for the weekend. And a special KUDO to my OCR training buddy llewellyn_human_reto taking overall 2nd place for the weekend. Also Atalia Viljoen with her 2nd place overall lady. Pain, Sacrifice, Loss, A battered body, A broken relationship. How far will you go? To achieve what you’ve never had, you must do what you’ve never done. * 1) mightymouse125 completely broke his fibula in UFC 130 & still managed to grind through for a unanimous decision victory. 2) In the Vietnam War, Msgt Roy Benavidez ate 7 bullets, 28 shrapnel fragments, went hand-to-hand with several enemies & still managed to casevac 8 men in the process. 3) A batch mate we personally know, completed the 72km route march despite a Torn ACL & a bad flu. * The human body can take a lot of punishment. In selection, no matter how dark or painful it gets, remember that you are still in a controlled environment. Sure, holding that pushup position or going for back to back missions may seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. But put your discomfort in perspective with what others have endured through & reflect on yourself. Are you really hurting or are you just complaining? How bad do you want it?
