1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible - Michael Chiavetta, Charlottesville, VA This beautiful matching-numbers 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible was built in March 1965 at the Baltimore, Maryland plant before being delivered to Tropical Chevrolet in Miami, Florida where, on July 14, 1965, it was purchased by its original owner. The car lived its entire life in Florida with its original owner for 52 years, and it now resides in Virginia with its second owner. This rare Ivory-Turquoise interior color combination represents one of 4,917 of all 378,618 production models. It’s shown with an exterior color of Ermine White. This numbers-matching Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible came from the factory with air conditioning, power steering, power top, 283-cubic-inch 195-horsepower engine, two-speed Powerglide transmission, and a 3.08 rear end. The frame, body sheet-metal, trim, bumpers, floor, trunk pans, interior, all glass, door dings, dents, scratches, spider cracking on the exterior paint, and, yes, even the undercoating are original from 1965. The car has participated in the 2018 Concours d’Elegance Boca Raton; the 2017 Atlanta Concours d’Elegance, where it earned a Vehicle of Distinction award; and the 2017 Misselwood Concours d’Elegance. It has taken several Historical Preservation Original Features (HPOF) awards from the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) throughout its 53-year history.
