OKAY so since the entire episode takes place in Winterfell, I can’t divide my analysis based on location so instead, I’ll do it chronologically except for 1 post on Arya & all the characters she interacted with in this episode.
Quick note on the opening credits: it’s clear this is something they’ll change every episode, as the blue tiles to represent the army of the dead are at the Last Hearth already.
The episode started rather abruptly with Jaime’s “mini-trial”. At first, Daenerys was angry at the man who murdered her father & Sansa was suspicious of him too (Jon’s unsurprisingly a little distracted). Tyrion and Brienne vouched for him, which convinced Sansa &… after Jon agrees Dany reluctantly accepts as well.
Bran dropped the line “The things we do for love”, was both epic & funny because it probably made Jaime have a million anxiety attacks all at once, but everyone was probably like “Ummm… I guess”.
I liked how Brienne said that if it wasn’t for Jaime, Sansa probably wouldn’t be alive right now because I never realized the extent of that to be quite honest. If he never saved her or gave her HIS sword, she wouldn’t have been able to help Sansa later on.
The energy in the room was still quite tense when it was over, with everyone storming off in different directions, but there was also a weird sense of relief (not just in us, the audience).
Then there’s a quick scene of Daenerys & crew where she’s understandably angry at Tyrion, who later tells Varys & Jorah that they might wear the Hand of the Queen pin soon…. (doubtful. very doubtful, Tyrion - again more to discuss later👀)
