Today, I want to talk about the importance of plankton. Plankton is a general term that refers to tiny plants or animals that drift through the ocean. There are zooplankton (animal plankton), phytoplankton (plankton capable of photosynthesis), and bacterioplankton. All plankton have important ecological roles and are crucial to the welfare of the planet. One example of the importance of plankton is seen through the role of phytoplankton. Many people do not know that half of our oxygen comes from the ocean. Phytoplankton provide 50% of our oxygen through photosynthesis and absorb carbon dioxide. When phytoplankton die, their bodies sink to the sea bed, taking the carbon they contain with them, making the sea bed nutrient rich. It is frightening to know that the plankton population has been steadily declining since the 1950s due to climate heating. Without phytoplankton, we would have half the amount of oxygen that we have now and there would be much more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. They say “Bloom where you are planted”, but what happens if you can’t? . What happens if like this tulip I pulled from my own garden you are simply uprooted, taken out of the environment you were born into without any choice in that matter? . This was the last of our late Tulips so I cut it down & brought it inside to admire it a few days longer out of the harm of the elementsIsn’t it glorious?!? . It’s time to stop thinking only about yourself. Spend the next few months doing as much as you can for others 🦋 Most of us have been living our lives with such an extraordinarily huge “me” complex, that we have lost sight of what’s really important Showing Humanity 🦋 It’s very easy to get caught up in our own lives, our own personal dramas, our own needs & desires. But we must remember that we are all a part of one entitythe human race. We have to end this cycle of not giving a crap about anybody other than ourselves. At some point we have to realize that not everything has to draw praise and/or recognition from others or be of direct benefit to us 🦋 There are other people all around you, who are feeling just as scared, vulnerable, frustrated, angry & tired as you are, if not more. A lot of people spend most of their days feeling very alone. In fact, some people are literally alone, & don’t have anyone they can turn to for help, or even just to hang out with 🦋 At any given moment you may cross paths with someone who is thinking of ending their life that day or wish to do harm to others. Maybe YOU could’ve helped them think otherwise, but instead, the way you chose to treat them is what made them finally decide to go & do it. Actually resonate on that for a second 🦋 We are all going through something. We are all carrying some form of weight on our shoulders. We are all just trying to navigate through life the best way we can with the cards we’ve been dealt. If we just open our eyes we would see just how many other people are hurting too. Some just hide it better than others. Learn how to recognize the signs of someone who is falling apart & then figure out how you can make their load a little lighter rather than adding to it 🦋 I guarantee you that once you show/give love, acceptance, guidance, forgiveness & most of all compassion to your fellow brothers & sisters, (a.k.a., your neighbors, your co-workers, your peers, your family members & even complete strangers), you will initiate healing within yourself. 🦋

How can you change the focus on the what you can do, rather than what you cannot? Pregnancy is a beautiful process and creation of the feminine, yet I personally feel its times of limitations from what I “normally” am able to do and how I would like to train. However, while one of those moments came up on a lower intensity walk than I would have preferred with missing my higher intensity workouts, I switched the mindset there to “what can I do?” I took to lower intensity strength intervals at each bench I passed with plenty of time in-between to feel safe and strong for each. Rather than ending the walk with some frustration of limitations, I left feeling stronger with knowing I got in what I could. 🇬🇧 Have you heard about the concept of "climate stress" or '"eco-anxiety"? Lately I read a bunch of articles about it and I see on myself that I am more sensitive about this topic, I may be tired about so many effort, workshop, training, etc. There is no proper definition about "eco-anxiety". It has the same symptoms as regular anxiety (excessive worry, neurvosness, sleeplessness) but its triggered by environmental consciousness. I am definitely sleepless lately and I recognized I think a lot about future, how will it be? How can I be more responsible? What else can I do? Where my kiddo is going to grow up? Now that I'm cleared to lift again, this is my arm workout of choice! It's on the Nike Training Club (NTC) app for free! Granted, I'm currently doing it with 5 lb weights and modifying and/or cutting out lifts that aren't pregnancy-friendly But it's still my favorite! I do it after my walk, so I skip the warm-up and it takes less than 15 minutes! For legs, I'm doing a resistance band workout 2 sets of 12 reps for each major muscle group. This workout takes less than 15 minutes as well. * * * I can't run a sub-9 minute half marathon anymore. Or a sub-8 minute 8k trail run. I can't even run anymore period! But, my body can still move! In fact, it craves movement, and without it, my mood gets worse and my pregnancy aches increase. And as much as I'd rather lay on the couch, it's not going to help! I'm not doing my 1-1.5 hour workout that leaves me dripping in sweat and feeling exhilarated and exhausted But I'm doing what I can at this point in my life Because something is always better than nothing. * * * What time can you commit to working out right now? What is your body craving? Let me know if I can help you get started with a workout that fits your lifestyle and your goals. Because starting somewhere is important.
