Once again I have to give my praise to sigmaphoto_sa and their 18-250mm f3.5 As you know I've been experimenting with this lens for a while for various reasons. One being the way I need to challenge my creative capabilities and finding new ways to express my absolute love for photographing wildlife Another reason is that it is in all essence a field test for something big coming up in September with alisonroesslercampbell and dant_black506 africageophoto natgeoyourshot Africanimals wildlifephotographic african_portraits africanamazing wildestafrica ig_africa thisissouthafrica onlyafrica exlusive_animals wildlife_perfection animal_bestpics animallovers wildlifeaddicts super_africa capturethewild animal_captures animal_supershots AFRICANature AnimalElite featured_wildlife ODPshutters sigmaphoto_sa animal_wild_hd bestnatureshot

Several years later, after weeks of searching for him up and down a river in the Gabon’s Batéké Plateau National Park, I found my self face to face with the very same gorilla, who had been since released into the wild. Djala and his family are a thriving success story of the Aspinall foundation’s hard work and commitment to Gorilla Conservation efforts ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⁣ ⠀⠀ ⁣ ⁣ ➽ The Aspinall foundation are actively involved and sponsor conservation activities at 2 animal parks in the UK. They also work on oversea projects in Gabon, Congo, Indonesia and Madagascar. They help through ecosystem management, captive breeding and reintroduction of captive-bees and confiscated wild-born activities.⁣

This Easter Weekend, I visited family in Waterval Boven in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Being the enthusiastic birder that I am, I could not wait to discover kilometres on kilometres on foot. I found hiking trails in the Elands River Valley through forests and cliffs like I've never seen before in my life! One of the spectacular sightings I had was this beautiful Cape Batis a mere metre from my lens. I literally had to step back as the 150-600mm Sigma refused to focus at such a short distance. It was absolutely special! "Forgotten" | "Olvidado" The white rhino, one of the most wonderful and threatened creatures on earth, seems to ask us one last favor: save him. • Today, Earth Day we have more than ever, to realize that we only have one home and we have to take care of it.

earthday bushtreksafaris we have seen how ALL game parks in East Africa have changed since the 1960’s, drastic reduction & in some cases complete loss of animal populations such as the Rhino this photo is one of many protected by the superb KWS - Kenya Wildlife Service rangers who spend their lives dedicated to protection of the species, in their glory with horns intact and not shaved down to deter poaching lake Nakuru national park is also living proof that drastic deliberate changes to the behaviour of humans can allow an ecosystem to recover rich yellow bark of acacias is proof of this recovery in the 1990’s the lake was almost completely poisoned by human behaviours now , a decade + later its establishing itself as a rhino haven unlike most rhino sanctuaries across Africa, Lake Nakuru National Park pride themselves in not having shaved off the horns , instead dedicate two armed rangers protecting each precious animal all year round as we sit in our homes across the world , approximately 80-100 rangers, right this very moment, are tracking their allocated rhino on foot - protecting each & every animal in the reserve each animal in their glory we salute you KWS . During this festive weekend we keep you & your families in our thoughts & prayers ASANTE SANA mungu abarikie (swahili for God Bless) bushtreksafaris africageographic onlyafrica africanamazing dreamvacation wildestafrica wildlifeaddicts traveldeals natgeotraveller natgeoafrica luxurysafari destination_wild lovesafari rhinos natgeowild sarunirhino canon_photos canon natgeotravelpic bbctravel cnntravel earthday gitzo zenelli

Happy EarthDay! LakeNakuru in Kenya is one of the greatest hubs for LesserFlamingos in the world. A record number of 1.5 million flamingos have been arriving to the shallow alkaline shores of the Lake. The birds migrate together between alkaline lakes in the EastAfricanRiftValley as food sources dry up and breeding season arrives. The flamingos rely on unique environments to lay their eggs that are so salty predators stay well away. 30 days later and thousands of eggs hatch and the flamingos must continue their search for food. Lesser flamingos are slightly different from their greater relatives with rosier pink feathers, a darker beak and crimson legs, and smaller size.

Speechless - is what most people are when seeing a brown Hyena for the first time. I get it, you're trying to figure out where it belongs. It looks familiar, but not familiar enough, the ones on television have spots though? That's what you're thinking. Here is the ever shy, ever lonely discolored and shaggy Brown Hyena pilanesberg_ africageophoto natgeoyourshot Africanimals wildlifephotographic african_portraits africanamazing wildestafrica ig_africa thisissouthafrica onlyafrica exlusive_animals wildlife_perfection animal_bestpics animallovers wildlifeaddicts super_africa capturethewild animal_captures animal_supershots AFRICANature AnimalElite featured_wildlife ODPshutters sigmaphoto_sa animal_wild_hd bestnatureshot

“Heart wrenching footage of Cleopatra’s nine month old calf beside her dead mother who succumbed to an infection in Buffalo Springs National Reserve earlier this week. Our team immediately notified the Samburu vet and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) team who rushed to the scene. As the calf was getting dehydrated from being in the scorching sun, KWS decided to send her to r.e.s.c.u.e where she is receiving care. The 54 year old mother of seven was the matriarch of the ‘Royals’ family - the largest and most dominant herd known to us - a responsibility she shared with her sister Anastasia. We will keep you posted on her calf's progress.” wildestafrica — 📸 by Gilbert Sabinga

SHAHINAZ My daughter is training at EcoTraining to become a safari guide. My little girl in the tracker seat with a machete! Should I be worried? Shan shahinaz_samoy is only 19 but she has had already 4 accidents including 2 motorbike accidents. One of the motorbike accident could have cost her her leg. When I told her to stop hurting herself in crazy accidents, she bluntly replied “I’m your daughter”. So seeing her in the tracker seat with a machete is not what I call reassuring but deep inside, I am so proud of her.

cookyourtrips on tour im Sanbona Wildlife Reserve (Gondwana Lodge). Leopardess alerted to something ahead while stalking through the bush. Later it was discovered that a hyena was hanging out under the tree where she hidden her kill from the night before Leopard factoid: Even though most photographs show leopards in trees, research reveals that they spend most of their time on the ground 📸Photo Tip: To make your subjects really stand out for close up portraits, watch your backgrounds. Try to simplify your backgrounds by either using wide apertures to drop them out of focus or changing angle to get rid of clutter. Make your subject stand out and be the “focus” of your image 🤓Techie Stuff: ISO 400 f/2.8 1/2000th sec.
