Just call me the HIP THRUST MacGyver👩‍🔧 📏Ideally, you want your bench to be about 12 to 14 inches to get in a good position This is one of the biggest frustrations from my ladies who love to thrust but are stuck with high benches at their local gym and worry about adding significant weight to the barbell and hurting their back . And now find myself in the same pickle😫 A few months back my gym received all new benches and equipment and as excited as I was they replaced the ONE AND ONLY bench that I could use for the Barbell Hip Thrust. But nothing was going to stop me from thrusting and I had to think outside the box . ☑️Example 1:  Place Small Box against a wall (this one is still too short) Add Plate on top to add 2 more inches Add yoga mat for a back cushion And THRUST . ☑️Example 2: Place the bench next to a squat platform This will raise you and the bar off the ground AND Thrust . ☑️Other options: -Place two plates on the ground and put the bar on top of those plates creating your own mini platform . -Use 4-5 step risers Aerobic step risers plus the platform to create the perfect hip thrust bench. Make sure to place this box against a wall to ensure your makeshift bench does not move . Hopefully, one day every gym will be outfitted with the official HipThruster but until then we can create our own. Let me know if this was helpful and what other Hip Thrust questions you have

Absolutely needed this today 👏👏👏 . Yesturday started so well, breakfast was spot on, got a great back and bi's workout in then a nice balanced post workout meal/lunch 🤗 . Then not long after picking my daughter up from school my world went spinning into an oblivion 😰 and I spent the rest of the day vomiting🤮, feeling very faint, disorientated and very dizzy🤢 Positional vertigo kicked in and I was floored😔 Had a rubbish night sleep- constant falling feeling. Got up this morning feeling like a zombie, have to keep going, 6 year old and a 2 year old that need me 💏 Feel absolutely rubbish but I will still be working out today💪💪 Now I know a lot of people would think this is a stupid thing to do🤨 however, its the one thing that makes me feel better😁, it is shoulders and triceps today and over the years I've learned to adjust my workouts so I feel safe therefore todays exercises will all be seated, maybe lighter weights, keep my head as still as possible to avoid bring on the dizzy spells and just get it done😃 Life throws all kinds of 💩 at us, im not the sort of person to let things get in my way, there is always an alternative. ONE key thing that may be missing from your workouts & effecting your results⁣ ⁣ Pushing yo self👏🏻⁣ ⁣ Have you ever found yourself just going through the motions when it comes to your workout routine?⁣ ⁣ Doing the sameee workouts, lifting the same weights, doing the same amount of cardio⁣ ⁣ Yea you’re getting it done which is friggin awesome & you most definitely should be proud of yourself for that, but if it’s been the same thing over & over for a while now, not only may your results be lacking, but it’s also a sign that it’s time to consciously push yourself to the next level⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼This honestly is the same realization I came to last week with me & my workouts⁣ ⁣ I noticed myself just going through the motions⁣ My workouts were gooood, but something was missing and honestly I was getting bored⁣ It wasn’t until I was at the gym for a shoulder workout that I realized this and I was like:⁣ “Yanno what Genelle? You can do so much more than this”⁣ ⁣ So I increased the amount of weights I was using for every exercise & was literally shocked that even then, they were still fairly easy⁣ ⁣ I was holding myself back for about a month now because I was letting myself just do what felt comfortable & what I knew I could do⁣ ⁣ Little did I know how much more STRENGTH I had inside of me!⁣ ⁣ So I encourage you this week to just push yourself a little bit further⁣ ⁣ Here’s THREE examples of how to do this:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Reduce the time that you spend resting in between exercises so they’re more intense⁣ 2️⃣ Increase some weights where you can, even by 5 lbs⁣ 3️⃣ Instead of leisurely walking on the treadmill, bump up the speed a little & walk on an incline⁣ ⁣ Do you have to push yourself to do more every single workout?⁣ ⁣ No, because not every day will be this amazing workout that has you feeling on top of the world & your body physically may not be progressing that quickly⁣ ⁣ But making that conscious effort to make sure you are still moving forward in some way and proving to yourself your strength, is most important⁣ ⁣ I promise you have more in you than you think✨⁣ ⁣ In what way are you going to push yourself this week?👇🏻

To say a lot has changed since that first picture would be an understatement. To say a lot hasn’t changed would also be an understatement. 💖🌸💖🌸 I weigh 65 plus pounds lighter since that first picture. I was a SAHM, now I have a CAREER in an industry that I love and am passionate about. We lived in Georgia then, now we’re in Mississippi. We were 3 then, now we’ve grown to a perfect family of 4. 💖🌸💖🌸 I’m still incredibly hard on myself when it comes to my fitness journey. I’m a perfectionist and HATE to fail. Seeing others succeed is what drives me. I still wake up and have to motivate myself and push myself to come to the gym. I put others before myself ALL the time. If I want to force my quads to handle more of the load in squats, I try including front squats in my workout. This ensures I need to work harder to keep my core engaged, torso upright and upper body balanced In case of barbell front squats, the upper back and rhomboids start to falter as the rep range increases, even before legs tire Using Smith machines in this scenario can be a good option taking the pressure off the rhomboid and back muscles. Sweet Potato & Black Bean Quinoa Bake INGREDIENTS 4 cups sweet potatoes (2.5cm cubes) 1 (425g) can black beans, drained and rinsed 1 cup uncooked quinoa, rinsed 1 cup frozen corn, thawed 2 cups vegetable broth 1 tsp. chili powder 2 tsp. cumin 1 tsp. garlic salt ½ tsp. dried thyme ½ cup green onions, chopped INSTRUCTIONS Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Combine all ingredients, except for the green onions, in a 20x30 baking dish sprayed with cooking spray and bake, covered with tin foil, for 45 minutes. Remove tin foil and continue baking for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until liquid is mostly absorbed and the potatoes are tender. Remove from oven and let the casserole sit for 5 minutes so that any remaining liquid can be fully absorbed and sprinkle with green onions. Serve and enjoy! NOTE: If it looks like there is still some liquid in the casserole after baking for an hour, it's okay! The season is officially over, and I’ve never been so emotional at the end of a season as I am today. I go so hard for my athletes and I pour so much into them that I neglect my wants, my needs, and my own well being. But at the end of the day, I know each of them and their families appreciate everything I do and have done, from the everlasting memories that are created, to the opportunities I try to make sure they have, even for the tough love and discipline I try to instill in each of them, but most importantly the realness, the energy, and the love I give. I’m equally appreciative for the love, support, respect, and most of all the family they’ve allowed me to have with them. So when people ask me why I go so hard for them or look at me crazy because I do, these are the reasons why. We’re all going to die from something and I want nothing more than to die doing something I love while helping to shape and mold a mind in a positive way. I’m going to miss this crew, and the other seniors not pictured who shared in this experience with us. This is not the end of their story, just the start of the next chapter. I wish them nothing but success, and I pray that God covers these beautiful souls and they stay connected for a lifetime.
