After Competing at Maidens of Might this past weekend (full recap on da blog Weds) it got me thinkin how has your journey in strength changed over the years?⁣ I can say first hand that mine has changed a whole, damn lot. ⁣ -⁣ I went from thinking strength was:⁣ ⭕A perfect body (what even is dat?) ⁣ ⭕ thigh gap ⁣ ⭕putting on makeup and looking “beautiful” ⁣ ⭕working out with dumbbells and running on the treadmill because that’s what women are supposed ta do, right?⁣ ⭕Looking at myself in the mirror and feeling defeated⁣ ⭕Wishing I was a model⁣ ⁣ All of this almost makes me cringe now, I’m sure you can relate. We have these limiting beliefs that have been forced on us from society's standards and we don’t even realize it. ⁣I didn't even start to challenge these beliefs until I started to get stronger. -⁣ My Journey is constantly evolving but I am proud to say the days of magazine workouts and eating like a bird are over.⁣ I'm much more:⁣ 🌶️believer there is no “perfect body” we are all different and judging yourself for what you look like is the worst thing you can do⁣ 🌶️That thigh gap? I never achieved that, and have no intention of doing so. I’m pretty damn proud of my legs because those babies lift heavy ass weight⁣ 🌶️I don't need makeup to make me feel pretty. I know full on how beautiful I am wokeuplikethis⁣ 🌶️The treadmill has been replaced with sprints and prowler and the dumbbells have been replaced with a barbell and only used for assistance work.⁣ 🌶️Wanting to be a model? Nah, I’ll take the muscles any day of the week.⁣ I had so many awesome conversations this weekend with women who had fallen into a similar mindset. It's refreshing to see what strength can do and watch people realize they are stronger than they thought.⁣ So anyway, time to continue gettin strong AF.😉😎 ⁣

CHEST, BACK - 1HR 21MIN IRON WOMAN IS BACK! 🙋🏾‍♀️💪🏾 🙂 I'm back after 6 weeks of toe fracture/boot life. Check out these PRs: 🙂 129lbs overall Bench Press (I went as light as possible) 181lbs overall Incline Bench Press (then I went heavier, gradually increasing) 129lbs overall Dumbbell Flyes 🙂 45lbs feels like 60lbs, so in time, I'll be back to normal, plus heavier. I'm still not 100% with walking this is me being paranoid and also foot mechanics. My foot has changed and it feels like a peg when I walk down steps. So, I took the elevator up to the gym. There's still some tenderness at the top and bottom because my foot is getting used to walking in a shoe. Happy to say it's getting better every day). Happy Monday! Crushed it today at the gym Thought I’d take it light on Legs this week as my shins have been achy since the hills of Spartan 😉 so I decided to just do squats and deadlifts 🏋🏾‍♀️ . The stress of having to get weighed weekly or daily always created an anxious feeling inside me. I have done the programs that this was a requirement. I had success, but in the end always went back to old habits Watching the number bounce up and down played with my emotions. When the number went up "I am on cloud 9". Doing the happy dance When the number went up and I was doing what I needed to do "I was so bummed out" and yes this is when I would give myself the excuse "it's not working, might as well eat whatever." Sweet and Spicy Paleo Chicken Fingers INGREDIENTS • 1 1/2 cups almond flour (almond meal) • ½ teaspoon sea salt • ¼ teaspoon fresh cracked pepper • 2 eggs • 1/4 cup tapioca or potato starch • 450g chicken tenders • 1/2 cup honey • ⅓ cup hot sauce (Franks or Tapatio work great) • ½ teaspoon garlic powder • Optional: yogurt or sour cream for dipping INSTRUCTIONS 1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Trim any overhanging edges of the parchment paper. 2. Place the almond flour, sea salt, and fresh cracked pepper into a bowl and stir it together. Place the eggs in another bowl with a splash of water and whisk them. 3. *STEP CHANGE*: Dip the chicken tenders, one at a time, into the tapioca or potato starch, then into the egg then into the almond flour. (Keeping one hand for the egg and one for the starch and flour makes this a lot less messy.) Lay the chicken tenders on the prepared baking sheet. Bake the chicken for 25 minutes, or until it is crispy and beginning to golden brown. 4. *OPTIONAL STEP*: Let the chicken rest for 30-60 minutes in your fridge before you bake it. This step will help the crust to stick to the chicken. 5. While the chicken is baking, prepare the sauce. In a small frying pan over high heat bring the honey, hot sauce and garlic powder to a boil then set it aside. 6. When the chicken has finished baking remove it from the oven and turn the oven to grill. Dip each of the chicken tenders in the sauce then lay them back on the baking sheet. Save the extra sauce. 7. Put the chicken back in the oven for 2-5 minutes for the glaze to caramelize slightly. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't burn. 8.
