Have discomfort with Bulgarian split squats? Try this! • The Bulgarian split squat can be a an excellent exercise to have in your training programme as it helps to develop unilateral strength and stabilisation. • However, its also a very technical exercise which for some can mean it’s uncomfortable to perform (especially when raising your back foot on a bench). If you have this problem try using a hip thrust pad around a barbell that’s set just below your knee height. • This will allow your foot to be in a more natural position giving you more movement through your rear foot meaning it can roll with the pad, rather than being in a fixed position like it is on a bench. Doing this also allows for greater range of motion. Seated cable row develops the muscle of the back and the forearms . It is an excellent exercise for developing mainly the middle back while offering useful arm work as well. Are you just moving weight or are you actually focusing on using the correct muscle on every rep? Back is probably the most difficult muscle groups for people to engage. It’s so easy to just use your arms to pull the weight if you’re not thinking about what you actually want to build. It definitely took me some time to be able to connect my brain with my Lats when I first started weight training. Mind muscle connection is everything. The idea is to pause and squeeze.
