Yesterday I held Reset’s first meet-up, and some of the discussions we had got me thinking about this months theme (the city as a place of self-discovery.) The majority of us had moved to London for its creative potential but felt we were unable to actually experience it because of work. Work is such a defining part of any capital city, but between day jobs and side hustles, it’s come to feel like work also defines the people who inhabit those cities. One person at the event even said she just realised she doesn’t know who she is without work so wanted to use travel as a way to explore other sides of herself. So maybe cities aren’t as good a place for self-discovery as I initially thought, particularly if you’re working in that city - does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
