I find it hard to elaborate this type of beans we call it "kerdas" locally. They don't have it in English for this type of beans except in its scientific name that sounds a little odd to practically use it. It's a fruit from a large perennial tree found in our tropical jungle. The beans are encapsulated in a pod, green when and will change to dark brown when fully matured. Break the green-pea-look-alike pod open, the whole goodness of neatly arranged kerdas beans will appear. Beans from pods are pale yellow and it will turn dark brown like the ones in the picture when fully ripe. Simply put, it's "stinky" beans with "unpleasant" smells, an opposite to its flowers with a nice fragrance during flowering stage. Unpleasant if you're not used to it, let alone when you have no inkling of how wonderful it tastes like. I reckon this is the strongest-smelling beans of its kind and yet it makes a nice side dish to go with condiments together with steamed rice. It can be very appetizing. For the folks in the northeastern state of Kelantan, they take it together with grilled fish and to be dipped in a sauce known as "budu", an anchovy sauce. Lemme tell'ya, it's heckuva nice stuff to munch upon — it's nutty and crunchy and it gives you a nice feeling when it crumbles in between the teeth. Spaghetti is one of the types of pasta in the traditional Italian cuisines that make it to our varieties of foods. I'd go for it every once in a while. When taking foods of foreign origin, I'd prefer to be as authentic as possible, just like the natives would enjoy it. The Italians would use pureed tomatoes in their sauce for pasta. We don't have the kind of tomatoes similar to the ones grow in Italy that are known to be very sweet and tasty. But I guess our home-grown tomatoes are not too bad either. With the use of all necessary herbs like fresh basil, garlics, parsley, virgin olive oil and whatnot, I reckon our version will sometimes make the Italian countrymen cry after eating it. 😂 I love my spaghetti sauce to be added with ground beef apart from other stuffs like mushrooms, onions, carrots and coarse chunks of tomatoes, and sometimes chunks of sausages too. It's slightly sweeter but that's fine with me. After all, good quality Italian tomatoes are supposed to be sweet and tasty.
